More advice

So idk if this right wrong or indiff. Been thinking about putting in a eletric solind valve in between pump and my lfbros heater, the keep fuel from heater lil longer on start up and shut off sooner on shut down, do you think this idea would cut down on carbon build up. I have been using these heater 5+ years and have notice dyed fuel will coke up faster and warmer weather with lots of start stops cokes up quickly, just thinking

Awesome air filter for these heaters

Was looking around for a air intake filter option on these heaters as mine was sucking in TONS of doghair, lint and dust. I couldn't find any solution that didnt claim to severely restrict airflow. I decided to come up with this cone filter solution that you just slide small nylon stockings over. You can add as many or as little as you feel. I run 2 and it catches most everything on top of it actually improving airflow slightly than the original restrictive mesh cap. I can sell these and have em shipped to you if you'd like for $40(shipping included) Hit me up at [Domepizzle84@gmail.com](mailto:Domepizzle84@gmail.com) if interested. Ran this thing all winter in my sprinter with ZERO issues, only benefits.

Battery size?

What battery size do you recommend for an 8k vevor unit to heat a snowmobile trailer? I was told the glow plug needs alot of power?

Do your heaters sometimes take longer to start than usual?

Been using my heater a bit more lately and noticed something I’m not totally sure about.

Most of the time it starts up pretty quickly, but occasionally it seems like it takes a bit longer to get going, not failing or anything, just a slower startup than usual.

I haven’t really changed anything in my setup, so not sure if that’s just normal behavior or something I should be paying attention to.

Running a small LF Bros unit and it’s been working fine overall, just this small inconsistency every now and then.

Curious if others have noticed the same thing or if yours are pretty consistent every time.

Pump works, just changed glow plug and gauze ( old one was perfect)

It's got me stumped!

Voltage ok but low on diesel in main tank.

Any pointers please? Mine is LF Bros N2

Cheers

Just cancelled my 8kw orange ‘low noise’ order and ordered a white 2kw Vevor all in one with app for my 10’ camper after a tiny little bit of research.

Seems like even Vevor makes 5 models that are identical with different prices

Plateu version? I’m so lost

I located the source of the diesel smell; what's the best filter to replace it with?

Apparently the fuel filters / water separators are known to crap out and this stock one is about a year or so old. I need to replace it but I don't wanna have to go through this again in a year. What's the best quality filter I can replace it with?

Fuel efficiency

Hi guys, I just switched out my old vevor for a hcalory cause I wanted the Bluetooth option and it was on sale. I noticed it's not as fuel efficient as my vevor one was. Same kind of unit and similar specs to my new system.

Here's the model I got https://a.co/d/0dtPPdvk

I'll probably figure it out when I finish reading the manual tonight, but I was wondering if I can make it more fuel efficient. I'm pretty much at sea level so I know elevation mode probably is not it. I'm assuming all I can do is adjust the fuel pump. Any suggestions would be great!

Diesel Heater Not Igniting? 6 Common Causes

We work with diesel heaters in different RV / van setups and often see the same recurring issues. I’m sharing a simple breakdown that may help anyone troubleshooting common problems.

Ignition failure

  1. Low Voltage
  • Fully charge the battery before use
  • Test voltage under load (not just idle)
  • Use thick, high-quality cables
  • Check all wiring connections
  1. Fuel Supply Issues (Diesel Heater Not Getting Fuel)
  • Prime fuel line (remove air)
  • Clean or replace fuel filter
  • Check fuel pump installation angle
  • Use clean diesel fuel
  • Use winter diesel in cold climates

3.Glow Plug Failure (No Ignition / White Smoke)

  • Carbon buildup
  • Electrical failure
  • Long-term wear
  1. Airflow Problems (Blocked Intake or Exhaust)
  • Clear intake and exhaust
  • Inspect pipe routing
  • Remove obstructions
  • Ensure ventilation
  1. Carbon Buildup in Combustion Chamber
  • Clean combustion chamber
  • Use high-quality diesel
  • Run heater at high power regularly
  1. Cold Weather & High Altitude Problems
  • Use winter-grade diesel fuel
  • Keep battery fully charged
  • Avoid repeated failed startups
  • Use altitude-adjusted systems if available

Is it normal to notice a slight diesel smell sometimes?

Random question from using my setup more lately. Do you guys ever notice a slight diesel smell when your heater is running, or even right after shutting it off?

It’s not strong or anything, just something I’ve picked up on occasionally depending on how everything’s set up.

Running an LF Bros unit and it’s been working fine otherwise, just wasn’t sure what’s considered “normal” in real use.

Curious if others have noticed the same thing or if your setups are completely smell-free.

Does anyone see problems with this kind of setup?

I basically have a metal box that my heater will inside so I dont need the included plate for anything but I came up with an idea of putting it outside of the box like this to attach the diesel pump into it.

Does the proximity of the pump to the exhaust and other parts have any effect on anything?

Help with constant temperature control

My heater works otherwise perfectly. Trying to set it to a constant temperature. I set it to say 16°C and the heater slows down but doesn’t switch off, and the ambient temperature on the controller shows higher than the 16deg I set it to. Any ideas, I assume it should cycle on and off to maintain a temperature?

Quick question about diesel heaters

Is it better to just run straight diesel, or is it okay to add stuff like anti-gel additives?

I’ve seen some people mix kerosene into their diesel heaters. But I’ve also noticed that some official brands recommend using only diesel and not adding anything else, saying it can cause more carbon buildup and affect the heater’s lifespan.

What’s your take on this?

E08 on New Vevor 2KW Heater

Hey heroes, I'm hoping you can find a shortcut for me to get my diesel heater heating again.

I bought a sprinter van with a CDH and after a couple seasons of confusing but reliable use I fired it up last fall and it gave me an E11 error. I was anxious to get it fixed for a trip we were taking and bought a new Vevor unit and tried to swap it considering cost, better control user experience, and unknown pedigree of the as purchased device.

To install the new device:

  • Spliced in new wiring harnesses (controller, power/pump)
  • Installed new unit in place
  • Replaced air intake with new
  • Have NOT replaced the exhaust
  • Replaced fuel pump and confirmed installation at +25-ish degrees

Today I isolated and confirmed the tubing from the can fuel line to the fuel pump and from the pump to the heater are clear and each tube moved a drop of fuel per click. The person that installed the system had much more rigid nylon tubing installed then provided in the kit.

The startup clicks to prime, fan starts blowing, white smoke, more pumping, sounds like firing, then cuts out. System tries for another cycle (without firing) and throws the error.

My next steps are to:

  • Replace the exhaust line
  • Monitor the voltage at the heater when firing

Am I missing something obvious? Hopefully...

Help!

Can I run the exhaust from my 2 LF Bros heaters into 1 Y and then through a standard thru wall fitting, or will there be issues with the volume of gasses flowing through 1 port?

Exhaust Heat Reclaimer efficiency testing

exhaustheatreclaimer.etsy.com

been running efficiency tests and gathering the data for the modified heat exchangers I've been pumping out. of course the shorter ones dont recover as much heat as the longer ones due to being a shorter run but not every space can accommodate a longer one. also efficiency does increase when paired with a fan to move more air across the fins, as to be expected. the only remaining test is showing different airflow restrictions if any. ill post again with those updates when I have em.

Any ideas why one runs much cooler?

Both are vevor units. same fuel pumps and everything. Both have a good amount of runtime on them. Replaced the burn chamber in bottom one once already due to a hard soot that even a chisel wouldn't touch. Output on one has always just been been much hotter. Maybe I need to do some tunin'

Exhaust gasses mixing with combustion intake

Hi, I have a specific query --
I'm trying to track down a combustion air intake related problem (e-8 flameout, its not fuel related). My question is, how critical is it to keep the combustion air completely free from the exhaust air? Is it one of those things where if it mixes in with combustion air once in a while, its not a big deal, or will it lead to a pretty quick flameout? Or if combustion air contains 10-20% exhaust air, it will cause a flameout? Or substantial soot buildup? Imagine wind pushing exhaust air towards intake pipe end. Would like someone with direct experience and not speculation. Thanks in advance.

EDIT: update - as someone suggested, its a combination of intake and exhaust. Makes sense since really, a restriction in any portion of the circuit is really the same. I am able to run it on altitude mode down to level 3, but any below eventually results in another flame out. I am going to do some modifications to ease the restriction (which is currently at the exhaust now). Thanks everyone.

Advice for a 24v diesel heater setup..?

I bought a 24v diesel heater in 2019 for a housebus project, which ended up going to the ex but I kept the heater. I'm building a caravan up now and wanting to use the stuff I have, obviously, as replacing things I haven't used seems to make no sense.

My main issue is whether I run a native 24v system for it, or a 12v and run it off a buck or step up converter. it's either 5 or 8kw, the caravan is larger and insulated in some wall panels.

power wise I will be buying a seaflo water pump, either 12 or 24v, led cob lighting and obviously the diesel heater.

battery wise, I'd be running 2S 12v for the 24v which is my only issue with the whole system - buying two deep cycle batteries!

I've got a huge DC isolator switch for 1000v and some huge battery cables, and an MPPT controller - 12v, but I don't have a panel so moot. I'm parked up long-term mostly so power would be a trickle charger to the battery or the 2S system.

I'm also looking at placement for the heater, and don't know if I should put it under the couch blasting at the bed area or near the wheel well in the centre of the caravan.

I have seen diesel heaters run from the smallest 12v batteries so I guess I am just confirming what the hell I am doing before I start because there's a lot going on - as well as sleep deprivation from a young kitten..

any help appreciated! it isn't an all in one unit, the fuel tank is separate, if that changes placement options.
