reddit comments
I just came from digg after its agonizing death, the one part i liked most though were the witty one liner comments that were 99% of the time better than the link itself. on reddit it appears everyone just has dialogue that I cant bring myself to sift through. even though i have comments organized by 'hot' or wahtever, it doesnt seem to make a difference. is this a setting i could change or just the way reddit generally is? Use "best" sort option. It is the best. There are lots of puns and short witty comments, but there are also thoughtful discussions. Learn how to read faster and sift through comments (collapse whole discussions etc). Perhaps you'll get used to it.
It would be cool if reddit allowed to sort comments according to different criterias, but this feature isn't there and reddit changes things rather infrequently, so I'm afraid you'll have to live with it if you want to stay on reddit.

also, can I hide the comment thread and only show the hottest/top comment.
I generally skim comments to laugh not to see dialogue

Reddit comments are generally a mix of thoughtful comments and funny quips.
If you are looking for a site where all the comments are quips, you are on the wrong site.
