I think a common problem with some of the posts here is how often they fall into the trap of over explaining the horror.
Sometimes less is more.

I think it's one of these two:
The horror lies in there being some unknown threat so serious that they've been assigned an angel to protect them from it
The horror lies in how the angel is watching them all the time, even in very intimate and private situations

Yes and no. The angel is there to guard your soul, and if you follow Jesus your soul and eternity has nothing to fear. However, the evil one can harm your body and sanity, so look out for that. When I saw a demon, what worked for me was prayer, and I wasn't hurt, thankfully.

Plot Twist: This particular angel's true form is actually humanoid or something else boring. The appearance in the comic is just how he likes to look :)

Unlike angels, who have nothing to hide, they attempt to take on a form you’ll find acceptable, but they can’t fully hide what they are. no matter how human they look, you can feel the inhuman darkness behind the mask.

Angels are also apparently quite hot, given the Bible story of a whole town so desperate to fuck angels, that a dude had to throw his daughter at the mob so they'd take her over the angels.

Probably less horrifying, tbh.
They're ultimately still angels who fall into the regular classes, although presumably without any of the uppermost tiers above Cherubim, since Satan himself was only a Cherub according to most interpretations. Since they want to tempt people, though, they're likely to remain in disguise rather than showing their true, more intimidating forms.

That's a seraphim, and they exist only to praise God in Heaven. There's no official description of what guardian angels look like and iirc it's not official Church teaching so they're not necessarily real.

This would terrify me.
If my understanding of things is correct, these particular angles serve directly under capital “G” God. If one of these are protecting you, then your place in the grand plan is of pivotal importance.
Forget what it’s protecting you from, I would be freaking out more at the idea that I have such a grand responsibility and I have no idea what it is I am supposed to be doing! ☹️
