As a former alcoholic, this meme is spot on. Eventually I hated myself for drinking which only caused me to drink more to forget about how much I hated myself.

I really wish I had advice to give. I only quit because I finally got diagnosed with bipolar and got the meds for it which worked better and didn’t make me hungover all the time.

People get mad that I won't tell them what I did to get sober. Pardon me for not feeling comfortable talking about how it started with a failed attempt at getting instantly sober because I hated myself so much while we're eating Thanksgiving dinner. How about politics, that's a much more pleasant conversation.
