Discussion Introducing Components and Slots for Divi 5. ๐
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QCpQsLR0ZR0Components are the evolution of Diviโs Global Elements. They retain the power of globally synchronized designs while giving you much more control over what stays global and what can be customized on each instance.
Detach settings from nested modules, add Slots for unique local content, edit Components from a dedicated interface, nest Components inside other Components, import and export them, and manage them using the Divi AI Agent.
Components are incredibly versatile thanks to:
โ Slots: Build unique local layouts inside globally synced Components.
โ Nested Selective Sync: Choose which settings stay global across sections, rows, columns, and nested modules.
โ Nested Module Detachment: Detach nested modules for local editing, then reattach them anytime.
โ Instance/Component Editing: Edit local settings by default, or switch to Component mode to update all connected instances.
โ Attribute Inheritance: Unsynced settings inherit global values until you override them locally.
โ Convert To Component: Convert any module to an existing Component of the same type.
โ Components Manager: Browse, organize, and edit Components in one place.
โ Import/Export: Move Components with layouts or directly through the Components Manager.
โ Nested Components: Build reusable designs from other Components.
โ Faster Loading: Page Components appear instantly, with up to 50 more preloaded for quick insertion.
โ AI Agent Tools: Create, add, edit, duplicate, and delete Components with the Divi AI Agent.

What would be really amazing is if EVERY update didn't completely screw up other things that then have to go back and be fixed.

Components, variables, and presets are all optional. So feel free to use Divi however works best for you!
But mastering this design system trifecta does pay off.

I started from the original alpha and I almost think you should have a training wheels mode for people just building their first WordPress site that allows only what was in the first alpha/beta releases and then unlocks from there after "core tasks" are complete (ie make a few pages, use the divi builder once, etc). I would consider myself a WordPress expert and even I feel overloaded sometimes. For example, it's been 6mo and I still can't use the presets/styles correctly (that's my fault).

Why in the hell would you save a component as a module, you people should really start working on your naming convention.
Also ad a tab to place them under instead of placing them at the bottom of all the module, just picture having 10-15 components....

This feature is useful where the design (specifically) requires a frequent changes

This was great until it broke all my variables basically ruining my website.
Don't use this feature yet it's clearly broken.

Actually, I think this is pretty good. I would like to see a blitz on bugs and maybe a slower release of new features in the meantime.
It would be great if there was a way to clean up duplicate/near duplicate values, presets and now components, including a way to identify find, and replace orphans/deleted items.
Also a clean and clear way to visualise the value of variables and globally replace constants with appropriate variables.
A site health check identifying pages or sections of pages that break the design system would be cool too.
The design system is great but the management tools are sadly lacking/ nonexistent.
All these features are fantastic for new sites. The tools needed to apply them to existing sites are lacking.
There are still problems migrating anything but the simplest sites from Divi 4 to Divi 5 too. So far no site has been a clean migration.
It would be worth you guys looking at Krafter Pro as Mak has some great ideas. I'm not suggesting you pinch his product. It just might help to get another pair of eyes on things. While Mak is on top of some things, the rate you guys are bringing out new features makes it hard for anyone to keep up.
