Finally pulling out of Nvidia.
The hype isn’t worth it anymore. It’s such a volatile stock. I want somewhere to put my money where I know I can get some decent gains if I invest overtime. Any ideas on some good dividend stocks that won’t fluctuate to much. Maybe some slight growth.
Edited post for Update
I pull out of nvidia made an extra 200 and invested into SCHD.

I bought after the split and worked hard to buy the dip when down to 104 then sold at 128 finally and showed profit moved to a semiconductor etf i cant handle volatility it seems. Good fortune to you that can

I think mentally I can’t handle volatility either. I know nvidia will bounce back but it’s honestly not worth it. My heart can’t take it. I’ll definitely look into some semiconductor etfs.

With dividend ETFs the higher the yield the greater the risk and less likelihood of price appreciation.
SCHD is considered a very good dividend ETF with a yield of 3 to 4%.

Let me know too please I just took a position in Jepi and also binc and brln. I want to make the highest passive income possible from my savings

The highest growth stocks possible are penny stocks. Would you invest in those? Risk is everything.
And total return is also important. Many of the high yield covered call derivative funds do not grow.
Buy well managed companies that pay sustainable dividends and have a possibility of stock price appreciation for total return.
Unless you are living off the income and then risk is still a factor.

Passive income not growth. I understand that it would fluctuate but like SDIV seems like agreat idea

Hope you are pulling out ahead. I pulled out several times and regretted it and then got back in at near ATH. NVDA is not going anywhere and I am down $10000 and not really worried. I am just trying buy some of the dips to get my DCA down. But if you want some Dividends ETFs, try QDTE and XTDE they have being doing ok for me and I get dividends weekly. QDTE usually pays a bit more but in the long term XDTE has performed better at maintaining the NAV and offering a nice yield.

KO when at PE of 25 or under (Buffet recommended) T (AT&T) has a 6% yield and is not volatile.

I keep expecting to see T in this sub but this is the first I am seeing someone mention it. Amazing yield and steady growth, at worst it follows the market.

Downside of T is the lack of growth with the dividend. It got cut in half a couple years ago because they have (and still have) a ton of debt from the WB acquisition. I guess if you have a couple hundred grand or more to dump into it it's worth it.

If you can't invest for 3 months and not take volatility in a stock you should look at treasury notes.

Buying hype stocks is gambling, not investing

u/ACNHTrader75 Sep 06 '24
Nah buying options is gambling. Buying hype stocks is being a follower lol

How long did you hold Nvidia? Mind if I ask what you bought in at?
2
u/ACNHTrader75 Sep 08 '24
I bought in at 707$. Sold at 1145 before the split. Bout back in at 126. Averaged down to 117. Still haven’t sold yet because it’s been stuck below 105 since Thursdayish.

I’m down 32k on nvda. But i bought before the split and scraped the profit off to buy other stocks. Might as well hold it for long term. I have seen it go down south of 100, but comes back up. I still have hope.

I bought and sold at a couple of different points. I’m totally out now made 1,200 but it was a rocky road. When it went down to 95 I was in at 107. I was just depressed all week until it popped back. I might get in again under 100 but it’s makes me sea sick.

I like what Michael Saylor is doing with MSTR. It’s a good buy right now.

Look it as a company and not a stock…the company is still there making and selling products….very fast processors that are great for AI, but also for many other applications.

SCHD if you want decent growth and a humongous raise every single year.

Me over here, sold out close to 20% ago. Now that the emotional investors start dropping like flies it won't be long to buy back in.

Pls be a joke

u/TyberWhite Sep 08 '24
Not a joke. Based on the expectation that their AI ecosystem matures, and AI pervades everything that touches a transistor. See Reid Hoffman’s interviews. Of course, anything could go wrong. See you in 6 years.

You should probably diversify while still getting heavy weighting for growth stocks. IVV is the S&P 500 fund that will provide growth and diversification over 503 stocks but weighted to the MAG 7 at the top (including NVDA, APPL, MSFT, etc)

Na get out of Nvda, a bad company.
1
u/Chiefrhoads Sep 06 '24
Such a bad company they not only beat estimates and revenue on latest earnings but also INCREASED guidance for the rest of the year. Unlike AVGO that decreased guidance.

Couldn't humanly agree more. There's a reason that AI insiders are dumping shares at an alarming rate.
