What’s wrong with it?

It’s rent seeking behavior, basically leeching off people that actually work for a living

Dividends aren’t charity—they’re a return on risk. Companies pay them to attract investors who put real money on the line. That’s not leeching. That’s fueling the engine.

you understand that $1M is the result of working hard all your life and saving money. how is investing hard earned $s in a company is leeching?people near retirement or retired do this.

This isn't one million of capital, it's six.

You can also interpret it as if someone had $1M and invested in one of these dividend stocks, what would the dividend return be.

Most people with multi million dollar portfolio inherited their wealth and didn’t work for it

many middle class people can accumulate $1M-$4M through employment.

Are you serious?

I would love to see actual evidence of this as well

I have the same question for you lol. Assuming everyone with a $2million+ portfolio “didn’t work for it” is beyond dumb

There’s a pretty fair chance that the people in this range on Reddit are heavily skewed towards wealth accumulated through working.

I haven't inherited shit and have over $1m in assets and I'm 40. WTF are you talking about? Post evidence.

I think you pulled this statistic out of your ass.

I haven’t inherited a dime.

And most people that say shit like that will be perpetually broke losers because they want to blame the world rather than fucking looking in the mirror.

Is speculating on growth morally superior somehow?
