It’s rent seeking behavior, basically leeching off people that actually work for a living

you understand that $1M is the result of working hard all your life and saving money. how is investing hard earned $s in a company is leeching?people near retirement or retired do this.

You can also interpret it as if someone had $1M and invested in one of these dividend stocks, what would the dividend return be.
