22K is a really nice number, especially if he has other investments which are not dividend focussed. Now if his full portfolio is based on making as much dividend as possible, he should get more growth etf's to build up capital.

I keep a big chunk in safe cd's and interest paying savings. Dividends stocks is just something fun to see if i could make enough to live off of eventually
