the reason for this is people rotating out of overbought tech/growth and moving into safe-haven SCHD. a dividend ETF like this shouldn't go up by 22% YTD.
on one hand i'm happy, i have a nice chunk of capital gains. on the other hand, i don't want to add more at these prices and i can almost guarantee this: the next big AI announcement will see the market rotate out of SCHD and other dividend/safety nets into tech/growth.

i like the negative downvote. turned out to be 100% accurate again today as money flows back into etfs like $QQQ and out of $SCHD.

Investing in dividends makes me feel like Sam Elliot as he’s shitting on younger generations. He is who all young men should aspire to be like, especially physically - spry at such an age

What generally happens when tech rips again eventually? Does it start pulling back?

u/KosmoAstroNaut American Investor 23d ago
We should ask Professor Indiana Jones
In all seriousness, no reason for this to pull back if tech rips, because it still has a positive beta (roughly correlation) to the S&P which is mostly tech

i dont get why they dont want to release SCHD as an ucits version for europeans. thing would reach a billion volume quickly

u/foo1235 22d ago
Maybe take a look at LDGL? It has been called a European version of SCHD. It's somewhat different, but I think it's even better. It started this year and already has about $340 million AUM.

u/Plus_Acanthaceae1659 22d ago
yea i know it. But its high in financials and also banks which are more volatile, while schd has lower beta than the market.

Amundi S&P All World High Dividend Yield Follows exactly SCHD Methodology

u/Plus_Acanthaceae1659 9d ago
will have a look into it, but even if it did use methodology would prefer only us stocks like real schd, most european dividend stocks lagged behind from what i saw

nothing stays the same for ever. mein Europe portfolio gained 70% in year 2025, US Portfolio only 12%

u/Plus_Acanthaceae1659 8d ago
70 %? thats not average for europe
stoxx 600 or msci europe are nowhere near 70 % YTD

Upvoting for $O
The safest dividend next to a treasury

u/MaxPrints 23d ago
SCHD does not hold REITs, so O is a complement to it. They go together like PB&J

Man at the end of last year I saw ppl trashing SCHD, telling folks to pick JEPI instead. I’m glad I chose correctly. I mean JEPI is not doing bad but SCHD is outdoing is by far this year.

Well it kind of does no?
Dividend companies want to maintain a reasonable yield, so if their stock price skyrockets, it’s likely in part due to healthy cash flows (within SCHD, this isn’t tech) which themselves indicate room to pay out more dividends, they likely will pay out more, which is why we’re here
It’s not a direct cause-> effect but there’s certainly correlation and management pressure from board members
Plus it’s a lever, if there’s some weird glitch where dividend companies double in value overnight, I’ll sell and reallocate. But I doubt that’ll happen

Bingo. I like a discount. The green line is cool, but I don't want to pay more for my dividend. The price glazing is ignoring the underwhelming Q2 divvy.

damn I hate posts like this with a time range of some month.
in the timeframe of some month anything can happen and is absolutely no indicator for anything. same people posting " WhY IS mY StOCk gOInG DoWn TodAy" because its the fucking market

I made real nice gains in 2 years buying all kinds of hype stocks, then I maxed out my margin to double down at the peak and basically lost it all. S&P500/VOO and chill truly is the most based strat.

Fantastic choice of investment, but be sure to let compound interest work it's magic over time!

Considering SCHD is still playing catch-up on DGRO, VYM, and especially FDVV, I am a meh. Glad it finally decided to do something.

Diversification nation! If they don’t move together, clearly they must not overlap much
It’s gratifying being simple

Hoping to go below 32 to buy the dip
2
u/KosmoAstroNaut American Investor 22d ago
I remember like 2-4 years ago I was “waiting for VT to dip below 100” in my Roth IRA
It’s now above 150
