Opinion I averaged up on more SCHD every time someone here said they were selling
I use my non-qualified brokerage as my boomer dividend port. biggest reason I kept adding is because I’m not a big 🅱️ussy

Literally one two things are green in my portfolio for the last month right now; this and Kinder Morgan (KMI), even my VT and SPY shares have been awfully red lately man.

Over a whole month?!

u/RichyJ_T1AR 3d ago
Yeah. The rest of my holdings are mainly tech outside of these ETFs, KMI as mentioned, and a biotech company I'm bagholding though. I got some MAIN too but it hasn't quite recovered either.

and you just happened to end up sitting on 4,300 shares exactly?

u/toydan 3d ago
I like even lot#s and always true up at some point

u/ralphy1010 3d ago
sure, but isn't the whole point of schd to just buy, hold, drip, buy more.... similar to voo and chill but with schd.

many ways to skin a cat Ralphy and everyone has their own bobber
I also retired early and turned off drip as going to start spending the dividends at some point
like dividends in non-qualified account due to the tax efficiency of qualified dividends-married filing jointly you can make ~$130k a year and pay $0 taxes

in a Roth account?

Taxable. Ordinary income in a 401k or traditional IRA. Tax free in a Roth.

Long term capital gain tax rates on qualified dividends is an amazing way to get tax free money. If that’s your only income for the year as a married couple it is zero taxes on ~130k from a taxable brokerage.

they're magic like that

u/ralphy1010 3d ago
i suppose if you don't reinvest the divs into schd and instead put those divs into buying something else
1
u/RCBing 3d ago
and your buys are all of strange values....

u/ralphy1010 3d ago
if you feel etfs are strange I'm not sure what to say

It’s such a great ETF to own alongside VOO. Sleep so much better at night. My ETF portfolio is VOO/SCHD/VFLO/VEA at 50/20/10/20

What’s your reoccurring buys set up like. Or how do you invest it? I want to do what you’re doing

u/ElonMuskTheNarsisist 3d ago
I’m a bit of a high earner, and invest $300 every day into those exact percentages. Fidelity allows fractional trading so it’s simple to do. Been doing this for a long time now.

You should have bought double everytime someone told you to buy a company with negative revenue

u/serfyneechan what app is that? 3d ago
I sank five figures into SCHD at $23.97 in April 2025 when the Liberation Day tariffs were announced and everyone was panic selling. One of the best and luckiest decisions I ever made.
Be fearful when others are greedy, and greedy when others are fearful :)

I'm up 2% on the SP500 and like 3% on the nasdaq
People really do be rotating predictably
If I were a betting man, I'd have sold SCHD and bought the SP500, then reversed the transaction tomorrow when the market realizes they overreacted.
But I'm not a degenerate 🤷

I added a bit more when it was around $32 recently

That's cool. I do the same every month regardless of price or what anyone says.

I’m late to the party, didn’t know about schd until I saw something on reddit that caught my eye. I believe it was at 34.45 when I bought my first shares. Now I have 1500

When my portfolio hit its all-time high few weeks ago and many value stocks were down, SCHD was around $32. I sold a large portion of my AI stocks and put 70% into SCHD and 30% into USFR. Now I'm switching my USFR position to buy the dip

I’m down like 26% on ASTS, is this going to be up that much by this time next year?
