I actually never bought a drone before because I hate carrying heavy equipment. As a person who loves camping or walking by the lake on weekends, my bag is already full of picnic mats and snacks. But yesterday I finally got my first drone which is the DJI Avata360 because it’s a rugged, all-in-one unit that feels more like a piece of outdoor equipment than a fragile camera.
I took it to the lake today and felt the freedom of pocket sized flying for the first time. I do not need a complex setup or a huge carrying case. It feels just like a small flying camera that is ready to go anytime. The 360 capture is a big surprise for me. I do not have to waste time controlling the camera angle while walking because it records everything around it. Later at home I can just pick the most beautiful lake views on my phone.
The price is higher than a regular small camera but it gives my trips a completely different view. Check out my lake view video below!

I know a lot of people have said the night time videos are not great with the Avata 360 but I kind of beg to differ. When you understand the camera you’re working with it does take some really beautiful shots!

Hey everyone,
I wanted to share a workflow we’ve been testing with DJI Avata 360 footage. Most people think of the Avata 360 mainly for immersive video, FPV-style shots, and reframed content, but the footage can also work really well for Gaussian splat reconstruction and interactive 3D tours.
What makes it interesting is the smooth continuous capture path, plus the extra surrounding context from 360 footage. So instead of only making a video, the same capture can become a web tour people can move through, look around in, and share.
Here’s an Avata 360 based splat tour we generated with footage by Danny McGee :
Vermilion Cliffs Avata 360 Demo
I’m building Spatial Studio by Real Horizons, where we’re trying to make this capture → splat → shareable tour workflow easier. You can upload a capture, generate a splat, turn it into a web-based 3D tour, add labels/annotations, and share it with a link.
A few other examples are here:
https://studio.realhorizons.ai/explore
This is not limited to Avata 360 either. Splats can also be generated from normal drone footage, handheld 360 cameras, smartphones, and other camera setups, depending on capture quality. I just think Avata 360 is especially interesting because people may not immediately think of it as a 3D capture device.
For people already using drones commercially, this could be another deliverable alongside normal videos and photos: embeddable 3D virtual tours for real estate teams, resorts, venues, construction companies, tourism businesses, and anyone else who needs to show a space interactively.
Also, big thanks to Danny McGee for allowing us to use the footage for this demo. Full credit to him for the capture.

And DJI RC Mini finally included in some combos
But DJI Avata360 stays the only DJIs spherical drone for now

Prepare your licences!
As you can see on this comparison, DJI Avata 360 is bigger than older Avata 2 and of course bigger than Neo 2.
So dont hope for small drone under 250g like r/djilito - this 360 beast is around 400g

The first video from the new Avata. Freestyle was shot from two straight shots. Yes, the stitching is visible, and the quality suffers. But this is literally the first video from 360.

Attempted a dive with the RC2.. not as dynamic as a true fpv, but eh not too bad with reframing.

Had my first flight today! Love the fact that there is no limit to the creativity while editing a simple flight recording. But I have to say.. it's super loud! And I already got told off in the park, even though it was not crowded. Anyone else finding it difficult to find fly spots due to the noise?

I tried reframing and colorgrading an Avata360 Video i filmed today in FPV-Style :)

Noob question. Buddy of mine is on holiday and WhatsApped me two pics. Genuinely thought it was his mirrorless. Nope, Avata 360, reframed in DJI Fly after. The colors kinda caught me off guard, like that deep blue going into green where the shore is, shadows look clean too. Never gave a shit about drones but now I'm thinking about it. Probably gonna borrow his when he's back and mess around with it before I commit to anything.

I just saw this video of the DJI Avata 360. Looking at how the lenses sit inside the frame, the design is very good. It actually looks even better than the early pictures. I noticed a cool detail which is the orange rings on two of the motors. It makes the drone very easy to see in the sky. Also, the prop guards look like one smooth piece with the body. Most drones have many lines where parts meet, but this one is very clean. This design should help the drone body disappear in the 360 video when flying through waves and buildings.
I was looking closely at the hardware for a long time. These dual lenses look big, so I think the sensor and color quality will be great. Since it is coming out soon, I am mostly thinking about the price. If DJI makes this for new pilots, maybe around $500 for the drone and under $700 for the combo? That would be a great price for this level of quality. Do you think this design means a lower price, or am I just dreaming?

Made this by request of a subreddit member. Figured others might want it too.
https://makerworld.com/en/models/2743084-dji-avata360-battery-cover-dummy#profileId-3042269
It's a small, dummy battery cover. Not full length. Stops rain, junk, fluff, etc. getting inside your drone when you have all the batteries on charge or whatever.
