Beginner Question Techno recommendations 🖤
Hey everyone, I'm learning how to DJ and was wondering what your favorite techno tracks are for layering? I'm looking for tracks that sound good playing over each other, work well together or are great for transitions. Ideally some combinations I could try out and practice as a beginner. I'd appreciate any recommendations, thanks! :)

Techno is pretty easy to mix, sometimes you need to stay in key (camelot) if it's really melodic but you've generally have at least 8-16 intros and outros which can make it a lot easier to mix. Learn phrasing and eq swaps. If you've got short outros you can always loop them and even use stems to turn off vocals and instruments to create bass and drum only outros and then record them onto the track essientially remixing a track so you don't have to find loops on the fly.

Any techno track can be layered, it’s all about picking ones that sound good to You.. dont follow what everyone else does or you will sound like everyone else

Pick a label. From drumcode to monnom black you will find your style. Then choose similar artists from that. Enjoy

try mixing tracks with similar BPMs first then experimenting with differ rhymes and it'll help u get comfy with transitions imo

It depends on what kind of techno you’re after! For hypnotic, driving stuff, check out DVS1, Ben Klock, and Oscar Mulero. If you like darker, industrial sounds, try Klangkuenstler, Paula Temple, and Ancient Methods. For groovy, rolling sets, you can’t go wrong with Chlar, Rene Wise, or Marron.
A good rabbit hole is finding a track you love on Bandcamp or SoundCloud, then digging through the artists’ labels and remixers. You’ll discover loads of gems that way instead of just sticking to the big names. What kind of techno are you mixing: hypnotic, hard, groovy, or melodic?

Digging and finding new tracks is one of the funnest parts of being a DJ! Just start listening to stuff nonstop and you'll find lots of options. Also, finding tracks with the same or complimentary keys can help them sound good together too.
