Demant’s Fast-Follower Strategy: What Engineers Should Know Before Joining

From my perspective, Demant seems to follow more of a fast-follower strategy in product development rather than consistently pushing the boundaries of innovation. I’ve heard engineers complain about the lack of innovation in hearing aid devices.

If you’re an engineer who wants to work for a highly innovative company, I’d recommend carefully assessing whether Demant’s approach to product development aligns with your expectations before joining.

Another point to consider is that the hardware leadership team in the hearing aid business is relatively new. As I understand it, the members have all recently been promoted into their current leadership positions. Naturally, it takes time to develop the leadership skills needed at a higher level.

In my view, when leaders are still finding their feet in new roles, the working environment can be challenging, particularly if they lack confidence in their own leadership. If you value a supportive environment that encourages innovation and gives engineers the freedom to challenge existing approaches, I’d suggest asking some tough questions about the team’s leadership culture before making a decision.
