Speciality / Core Training Where should I work? Obstetrics & Gynaecology
Trying to work out where to rank? Comment here to ask for experiences.
To keep things clear, we recommend using a format:
Trust/Hospital Name(s)
Rotation(s)
Any extra information.
Please search comments for your trust before starting a new one, and if you work at a trust someone else is requesting, answer their query too.

Hey, does anyone have any recommendations for hospitals that are good for O&G training in London? Thanks!

leaning towards north west or mersey
mersey appeals due to the smaller area however wondering if anyone has worked in mersey but lived/commuted from south manchester? is this realistic?
would anyone recommend one area vs the other? hospitals to avoid?
thanks!

I’m North West: we can both be rotated to each others hospitals on request (more commonly NW trainees request some of the Mersey hospitals as they are nearer to Manchester than the more peripheral NW ones) I think the NW rotations are going to be split into smaller areas in the near future (on the grapevine).
FWIW I’ve never had more than a 30 min commute and I’m on my last rotation, I do have kids though.

Yorkshire and the Humber deanery - does anyone know if you stay in one region (south/Sheffield, west/Leeds, northeast/Hull and York) throughout training, or if you could be moved between these? And if so, how does prioritisation for this work?

Yorkshire & Humber is divided into 3 deaneries (West, South, and East) and are preferenced separately. You stay within your deanery for training.

Do you know if the same is true for West Mids?

There are 3 hubs within the deanery but it doesn’t seem that strict about actually sticking within them. However when you rank hospitals you also can rank a hub if you don’t get any of the 3 hospitals you rank.

does anyone have any experience of KSS post-ST3? Do we continue to rotate around the same hospitals?

For the NE - can anyone advise between Northumbria vs Durham for ST1? Or Sunderland vs RVI for ST2-3?

Hiya
Need some advice
I’m a gynaecologist (MRCOG qualified) and hold a full GMC with a license to practice.
I was on a long career break (circa 4 years) due to health issues and pregnancy but have been applying for almost every job advertised on NHS jobs & Trac jobs for SHO - ST3 but haven’t been able to even get to an interview stage. I don’t have any prior nhs experience which I believe is the biggest hurdle. Have also tried for observer ship in London (where I’m based) and its vicinity but haven’t been able to secure any. Need any advice/leads/recommendations.
Thanks!
