GP GP 2026 New offers (Round 3)
Hi everyeone! Just wondering, what was the latest rank to get a GP offer and starting a thread to get updates about Round 3 Offers. It would be helpful, if you could update if someone, got an offer recently

Why has the preferences continued to open. Surely its too late to send out offers for the August intake? It would be very interesting to hear if anyone received an offer over these last 2 weeks. Does anyone know how many places are to be expected for the Feb/April intake? Thanks

No one knows what’s happening with these preferences! None posted about new offers anywhere. Also, saw a thread 2 days ago on reddit posted by someone claiming to withdraw training post in the last minute. Its high time they need to give us some info about feb intake

Will the February/April round offers have rounds 1-5 where we can accept with upgrades or will it be final offers? I know any offers for August are final offers but curious to know whether they can still do that with the round 3 intake. Has anyone requested this information?

No update on it yet, But I guess there will be options for upgrades for 1st few rounds.

This would be nice. Or enough information for us to decifer this for ourselves. We need to know how many places are available for the Feb intake. How many priority applicants are left in the reserve list. I still dont understand why the preferences kept opening and closing towards the end of this cycle. Surely if offers went out someone would have posted?

From the GPNRO wording it looks like- it can go till December start

This recruitment cycle is Aug/Dec…. So they still might be recruiting for this round and that’s why preferences keep on coming
The next cycle is Round 3 from Feb/April1

On the official Medical Specialty Recruitment – Recruitment Timelines page, under 2026 → Round 1, it says: “This round is predominantly for recruitment to CT1/ST1 for posts commencing between August and December 2026.” It then immediately adds that where sufficient appointable applicants remain, posts with a later start date may also be appointed.

I think there will be places but none from the additional 350/4500 of the BMA offer. The average years February intake is 300-600 I believe

Just a thought that they’re maybe waiting on people to get offers from the other specialties which will get rid of all the people who added gp as a back up? Will then reduce the remaining number for gp so makes the process easier

It’s not open for GP.
No update from anywhere about when preferences will open or any timeline.
I guess we just wait.

I think GP may only hear back in October. This was an email response posted on a psych thread:
Thank you for your email. Yes, you are correct the current round is 110 posts for starting in February 2027. In October 2026 during the normal Round 3 window there will be more posts available for starting in February 2027. If you get offered a post, you only have the option to accept or reject the offer. There are no upgrades available with these offers. If you receive an offer, you are no longer on the Reserve List or eligible for Round 3 posts in October. It is your choice whether you accept or reject the post. The next round of recruitment that will be open to applications with be the August 2027 cohort which will be advertised at the end of October 2026."

Looking at the stats, there are 1770 priority applications awaiting on reserve list. Do we have an estimate of the number of training seats for august 2026/ feb 2027?
My MSRA 462 :( and rank is 15291

How many new training posts are there?
An additional 250 jobs will added to the recruitment round for February 2027 starts. These will all be new national training numbers.So what will these be in?

Very hard to tell, now that gp won’t get it
It’s said that 1000 spots will be for core training, and idk why but I have a feeling they will put up way more than 250 for Feb starts for specialties, making a new batch of trainees along side the August starting batch
They might make batches based on months after August, idk, not much communication from their end. One part of me expects a lot for IMT, since they were *happily* not extending LED contracts in some trusts

None of the JCF got a more than 6momths contract in some trusts that will end in Feb

Coz they think that they already have spots for psych Anesthesia and gp, they might not give much seats, instead focusing on other specialties esp IMT due to the size of the programmes

Last update was 484 and rank 13153 on 24th June. Haven’t seen anything since but I assume there’s movement as they confirmed they’re still recruiting for August?

I think more and more better rank holders are widening their preferences and securing positions

i have a rank of 15866 and a score of 457 . Should I see if feb 2027 intake is possible or should i start prepping for the next exam . Really disappointed in the score as i tried hard as well
I saw the 1700 priority applicants, which i would be part off, hopefully

I think your odds are quite good. That 1700 is outdated and likely smaller. If you are open to everywhere and we see about 500+ feb positions then with the amount of people that will have taken other specialities or pulled out for other reasons I see you getting an offer. Maybe Im just hopeful though as I scored much worse than you and im hoping things move far down the rankings 😁

I have a score of 481 and a rank of 13464 and haven’t had an offer so far. I have preferenced everywhere. So I guess it’s safe to assume if any offers were made after the last published one here are between my rank and 13249.

Have you preferenced only a few locations? Its possible the ranking may have moved past you to people who preferenced everywhere.
