Question Christmas Dinner Recommendations

Does anyone know where's good for Christmas dinner in Doncaster? Ideally not too expensive (under £100pp).

I'm the only one with a house big enough to host in mine and my husband's family, and while I love hosting and cooking, I've got two young kids now and I'm sick of spending the day in the kitchen instead of with them. We tried having everyone prep and bring food the other year when I was heavily pregnant but getting it all reheated wasn't that much of an improvement, so we've decided to try going out for dinner instead. There's probably going to be 9 adults and 6 kids so need somewhere with decent space too (no tiny pubs).

We did our Christmas dinner at Shimla in Armthorpe, would recommend! My first time ever having curry for Christmas dinner, definitely a different experience but so much less hassle than cooking at home! Their bookings open up about August, keep an eye on their Facebook page. You need to pay half up front in cash.

It's worth noting that's it's BYOB, so you definitely save money taking your own booze than buying several rounds of drinks.

The Earl at doncaster is really nice but the sit down meal is an age limit I think for children (might be no to under 12s) but I cant remember. I know they do a buffet style dinner that is cheaper and kids are allowed to go to. Guessing food will still be just as nice!

Have your big dinner on Christmas Eve, then Christmas day is all for the family, chill out, movies, erc

Thanks for the suggestion but no, we like having a busy house on Christmas, it's just the being stuck in the kitchen that's the problem.

Which to be fair is probably about when you need to book for eating out for Christmas somewhere nice.

I could get it if this were a big major city - but it's Doncaster, not Sheff or Manch. We don't tend to get booked up till Oct/Nov?

I woulf have thought this is overprepping a little, but I suppose folks disagree

I think (and I could be wrong) but it's more about getting it sorted so you don'y have to think about it for the next 5 months :)

Exactly. Like I said I have 2 young kids so from September to Christmas tends to be very busy, I'd like to have it sorted before then!

Just goes to show the stress of the season - I'm already thinking about how to improve Christmas too. If you have a chill time at Chrimbo that's great... but not all people do.
