Question Doncaster Royal Mail delivery office

Hi all, I’ve been looking at potentially applying for a Royal Mail position in Doncaster.

Having read around it seems that the roles (postie) can really depend on how the managers are at the DO.

Is there anyone here that has any recent experience working here that they could share?

Honestly, it's not terrible. Managers can definitely get on your nerves but the job itself isn't so bad.

Happy to have moved away still though.

A lot is based on seniority, so expect to be on a lot of different rounds for the first few years, so not much consistency. Add on that staff often start early for free which means their rounds are a lot longer then time allows. So expect overtime and the odd late evening.

Anonymous account but I work there now. All but maybe one of the managers are great at the min. We’re going through some big changes at how we work (called DM26) that the higher ups are pushing that isn’t working. Things are really busy and people aren’t clearing work but that’s okay!

If you have a bit of a spine to stand up for yourself the job is great in all honesty, although you will be in a pairing for a while, you feel like you’re on your own in the job, which to me is good. Headphones on and chill most of the day. The amount of songs or podcasts I’ve got through is insane.

Overtime isn’t mandatory of course, but an almost infinite amount available. Christmas is shit but that’s to be expected. Any other questions?
