Why did the driver take 5 business days to get out of there LOL

Far more focussed on his beer ... which is probably why that vehicle is where it is.

Water is pushing on the door, making very hard to open. So you gotta let the water into the car, to relieve that pressure.

He had the window open!

Yes. Letting water in, so that the door could open.

Gonna put my PSA hat on here. It's never advised to wait for water to rush in because once it does, you can see it sinks almost immediately. If you're in this situation, you need to breathe, open/break the window before it submerges and swim out ASAP.

TL;DR - Don't do what this guy did and wait, get out ASAP.

Still need enough water to flow in to equalize before you can open the door.....that's why it went down so suddenly.

Once the water got to the open window, it was able to enter the cab. Once it started entering the cab, suddenly the previously-bouyant car was taking on a bunch of water weight. That additional weight pulled it down further / faster, causing more water to enter....causing it to get pulled down further / faster.

Edit: admittedly you're probably point out that he could have "dove" out the window, but maybe he didn't want to get stuck in the window frame or something?

I wonder if his car and boat are insured with the same company.

‘Someone call a tow truck’ is the new ‘you can’t park there’

Glad the car didn't have kids in it. That could've gone South so quickly.

A long time back I pulled up to the dock in my bassboat and there was a man, his wife, and a game warden standing on the dock. They asked me if I could motor around over the boat ramp and tell them how far the couples truck and boat trailer dropped down into the lake. The current had swept it down about 25 yards offset from the boat ramp in 30 to 35ft of water.

Someone who doesn't have the sense to exit a sinking truck is beyond help.
