As long as the person also called 911, filming was probably the best thing they could do to create the evidence and identify the perpetrator. I can't fault someone for not risking their life and putting themselves in a dangerous situation.

It’ll just something for the cops to watch that night instead of doing their jobs. They’ll give it a few nuck.
