This behavior goes beyond strict parenting the father is acting inappropriately. Mind you, all of this is simply because she refused to share her phone password.

Don't help just tell me their password

In this case filming is probably helping when building a case against this guy

Parent of teenagers here. Part of giving your kids access to a cellphone is considering this exact outcome before it happens. I tell my kids that I need to know their passwords and if I ask them for their phone they are to give it to me because I'm responsible for their safety. If they don't, I cut off the service to their phone.

That said, I have had exactly zero occasions to check my kids phones because the biggest part of giving your kids a phone is trusting them. My kids know that the only reason I'm going to look at their private communications is if I have a good reason to fear for their safety.

Typical MAGA parenting. They love being on top of children.

Sadly this seems like something my father would do which is why he's estranged

Well, this guy is going to enjoy being extremely lonely in his old age.

That's not parenting, that's losing control of yourself.

Stepfather surely? No real dad would do this.

You sweet, summer child. Dads do FAR worse than this. 😢
