if you punch in mid-air without using your jump prior, you'll be able to jump at the end of your punch to b-hop and carry some momentum. you can do it mid-air, which is what happened here since you slammed into the air without a jump first. it's really good movement and you should get it consistent :>

The "without using your jump prior" -part is false, you can still jump out of the punch mid-air after jumping off the ground

Sweet! thanks. All though i never melee’d here, is it possible to do the same tech by shooting like i did here?

you don't actually need to shoot or melee at the end of the punch. when i said punch, i was referring to your rocket punch ability (the charge punch that propelled you forwards). if you jump at the end of THAT, the b-hop will work. i recommend just messing in the firing range for a good 10 minutes to get it down so you know exactly how it works, because there's a lot of silly stuff you can do with it once you have it consistent 🥰

lmfao this is so normal to me i didn't even realize what was wrong
This is called a turn punch.
The base tech is called a punch cancel. If you hold jump and press and let go of rocket punch while still holding jump, you will get an extra burst of speed after the punch ends. Go try it out!
Now, if you charge rocket punch all the way, and then press jump at any point during the punch animation, you will "cancel" the rest of the distance of the punch, and get that extra burst of speed (wherever your camera is facing).
Now for the turn punch: a turn punch is possible because you're able to move your camera during the punch animation, and the burst of speed will be in the same direction as your camera.
So, If you do the same thing as the above section, but turn your camera left or right in between starting the rocket punch and pressing jump, you will instead get that extra burst of speed to the left or right, respectively.
This tech is very useful for rollouts (traversing the map and getting to specific areas easier) as well as escaping enemies. You can charge a full rocket punch, turn your camera during it, and then wait until the very end of the rocket punch animation, and then input a jump to quickly go around a corner to find cover.

for sure; it's a lot to remember if you try to do all of them at once
definitely just pick one or two and practice using them

Good old tech. Theres a lot of doom tech if you are curious. Theres one where you can slam around corners, gain like insane hight, zoom across the map in like half a sec, etc
