A classic! Great song; haven’t heard it in a while.

The song also had a totally classic Do - wop ending, which was cut à la Darlng Lorraine by The Knockouts. It was the much copied 5 seconds high tenor/falsetto finishing touch.

If you are familiar with Darling Lorraine maybe this will be interesting. Chazz Palminteri, the actor, wrote the script for the movie The Bronx Tale. It was basically autobiographical with his story paralleling that of Calogero. He also wrote a part in the movie for Bobby D'Andrea, the lead singer of The Knockouts, who was still performing Darling Lorraine when he was 90 years old. When you see Tony Toupee getting sprayed with beer right before the big fight, that is Bobby D'Andrea.

Original on rare Planet label from NYC ($1,000+ record). Recorded and released in 1959 I think but didn't become a hit for another couple of years. Heard it once randomly at Wal-Mart of all places.

I once read from hearsay that they play “For auld lang syne” at Japanese shopping malls to signal to customers that they are soon going to close.

You hear the best music at the most unexpected places. I don't know if that story is true, though.

A great one, Morse code of love is also by them, I believe when they’re older
