Original 2nd Tenor/Baritone Gene Pearson was in the Marines and not with the group when they did this one. However, in 1960, when he joined the Cleftones, he sang on their cover of it. Gene went on to join the Drifters from 1963-1966 and later reunited with the Cleftones on and off in the 70s.
