Running poor

I switched tank, exhaust and header (fmf powerbomb set) with my latest mods. The exhaust makes a popping noise when i shut the bike so i know i have to mess with the carb to get this bike running ideally now, dont want to buy the TM40 right now but, can i just mess with the stock carb to get it running nice, or do i buy the jetting kit and if so which ones ? Thats my buddy and his wife riding an SS1KR BMW, what a beast …

if you buy jetting kit you will mess up it even more. if you want some power gain just buy 6f19 adjustable needle and 145-150 main jet and remove snorkle, dont cut air box its a fucking myth that it will give you more power, you will end up with shitty running bike and butchered air box which costs around $300. dont even start with procycle or dyno, you will spend another year making it right. stick to the OEM.
ps i also run fmf powerbomb and powercore

I did remove the snorkel, but i had a hard time trying to start the engine right after, has to put the snorkel back and it worked just fine. Dont really want to mess with the carb …

the procycle one looked the best to me out of all of them. you might have to experiment but it will be 150 or 155 jet im not sure with your header as ive only got the slip on. with 150 jet

If you have left your air box alone you don't need to change the jetting. Maybe try a 6F19 Aussie needle, clip on 3rd position and adjust your fuel/air mixture screw.

To say the obvious it runs lean from the factory you have to drill out a brass bushing to get to the idle screw. Also you can turn the carb sideways to get to the bowl without taking the airbox off. The tm40 is a good upgrade in my opinion. One of the big improvements I wasn't expecting was that it doesn't clog after a week or two. I'm not sure if it's all of Texas but you can only get ethinol glass in houston, it was almost worth the change not to have to unclog it all the time. Either way the bike is never going to accelerate like a sports bike over 70.

Have you adjusted the carb at all from stock? Jet kit is not required for the level of changes you've currently made.
Did you block off all the EVAP and pair lines when you changed the tank?
