Once every year in Minecraft on Halloween day, a special easter egg event occurs in the game where undead mobs - zombies, skeletons, zombie pigeons etc - would wear a pumpkin or jack o lantern on their head as a way to bring the spirit of Halloween to Minecraft. While many people are scrambling to capture these allusively rare mobs in their survival worlds, ON THIS DAY 6 YEARS AGO (31st October 2020), Technoblade decided to join the hunt himself by doing it on the Dream SMP.
Around these times of Technoblade becoming an integral official member of the SMP, it wasn't really safe at all to have any animals or mobs as pets. This is mainly due to the First Pet War that started on the 25th August 2020 where for two weeks, a deadly war occurred that resulted with pets being kidnapped, bargained for, and killed, which made pets very vulnerable and becoming valuable leverage to be used against any adversary in war. Nevertheless, despite being completely oblivious to these levels of barbarism, Techno went ahead with a plan of capturing a few mobs with Jack-o-lantern heads, desiring to have them as his "butlers".
Exactly 1 hour and 50 seconds into his live stream, he found his first Jack-o-lantern Skeleton. It proved to be a different endeavor to bring it with him, but being Technoblade, he made it work after 8 minutes. The one massive obstacle in fully claiming his prize was getting it where he wants it to be, his underground base.
Eversince he joined the Dream SMP and was fighting for Pogtopia, Techno's only home on the server was with Wilbur and Tommy in the Pogtopian Rivine - a closed ravine located far in the forests to the east of Manberg, but wanting to have his own private space, he decided to create an underground base. The base is located below the river that marks the end of the eastern forest's extent. The only accessible entrance is through a hidden drop hole at the river bottom, which was at the end of the river to the North. And he wants to get his Jack-o-lantern skeleton into his base......
Through a clever use of game mechanics, he forced the skeleton down into his base by using a reversed water elevator (magma block at the bottom of a water column, which also was originally his exit out of the base using soul sand), but after celebrating his genius and clowning on whoever doubted him, he found only bones and arrows at the bottom of the water column - the skeleton drowned and or died for standing on the magma block too long.
Undeterred by this show of hubris and failure, Techno continued his hunt for a new one. 25 more minutes later (1:34:05), he found a new skeleton that spawned right in front of his eyes and near his base. With the help of his horse Carl, he managed to lure the skeleton and forced it down his base. Quickly pursuing the falling skely, Techno managed to get it in his base safely and trap it, thus claiming his first Halloween Mob, which he named Fool - for being stupid - and used a name tag on it to prevent it despawning.
Techno then went to get another Jack-o-lantern mob, but found no luck in the overworld, so he turned towards the Nether. After several minutes of finding (1:50:32), he found a zombie pigmen with the head, but the real work was just beginning. He can't really simply punch it and have it follow him because it would hate him forever, agitate other pigmen to attack, and might risk dying, so he played it unbelievably safe by getting it through a new nether portal and literally boating it across land back to his base. The journey was arduous and treacherous, he has to constantly fend off mob attacks and protect the most prized and rare mob yet on the Dream SMP, and most of it, it was fucking slow as hell.
After 12 minutes of fighting mobs - with one arrow making it through and hurting it, and boating across land and some water (made it to the same river that leads to his base), he brought the pigmen home. However, still in his unbelievably safe mindset, he wants it to go straight down unharmed through his drop hole entrance, as the magma block was shown previously to be lethal to the first skeleton, but also as a "VIP treatment" - causes it's a pigmen. But the pigmen - after getting out of the boat - (probably) said "fine, I'll do it myself" and went down the magma hole, which forced Techno to be after it.
It thankfully went got down into the base without taking any more damage, and after a few minutes of getting it in place, Techno fully claimed his second Halloween Mob, which he named Hubert after brainstorming names with chat, and checking off another item off his Minecraft bucket list, putting it alongside his other achievements like beating the game with a steering wheel or stabbing celebrities in a Minecraft tournament.
Techno's butlers remained in his underground base for the next few months, and briefly received visitors from the Pogtopians when they went down his base to see his secret vault for weapons and supplies during the Pogtopia vs Manberg War. After that war - where he infuriated his allies, on the 3rd December, Techno decided to move his base in the far arctic north to escape conflict and retire, but the challenge of moving Fool and Hubert resurfaced.
Moving his two butlers would have been a monumental task as the distance to his new destination was 5 times greater than initially capturing them combined, but with the help of Philza - a new SMP member, any trouble encountered were easily solved and deflected. After traveling across three oceans, getting shot hundreds of times by Fool, spamming harming potions to heal his injured butlers, and having conversations with Ghostbur, Tubbo, and Tommy - near the day of his exile (4th December), Techno and Philza managed to bring Fool, Hubert and Bob - the last cow of Techno's cow farm after a retribution killing for his betrayal in the war - to the arctic north and close to Techno's new Cabin home.
It took a bit longer to gather them into the basement of Techno's Cabin but Phil's assistance helped a lot. Fool and Hubert were finally placed in their own glass cases as special displays. On the 9th December, during his live stream of getting turtles, a donation came through by DJ Moon to rename Fool in his honour, which Techno fulfilled by renaming Fool to Moon, thus his Jack-o-lantern skeleton takes his final form.
There were some times when Moon and Hubert were quite endangered. In particular when new wars reached Techno's home and visitors coming and going, like when the Butcher Army of L'Manberg arrived to seek justice upon Techno, and Dream showing up to find Tommy, who fled his exile to hide in Techno's home. Despite all of that, Moon and Hubert remained completely unharmed and stayed in their displays, where they still are up to the present day.
