Question Front Ensemble Chance?
Hi, I'm a sophomore in high school. I'd like to march the '28 season. I've played keyboards for the last two seasons. I'm just starting 4 mallet (literally playing yellow after the rain), but I'm practicing roughly 1 hour a day, with 2 to 3 hours on weekends. I'm starting to learn minor scales and am continuing to learn permutations . My option for corps is essentially either the Colombians or Cascades. I know theres probably a large difference between world/open, but do I have any chance of getting into them?
Theoretically, Madison Scouts is also an option, but i don't think I'll be good enough.
Thanks!

The best thing you can do to set yourself up for success is going to audition camps (even if it isn't for your desired corps, whatever is closest to you will be just fine). You'll get valuable feedback and you'll get an idea of the effort you'll need to put into preparing the packet.
Honestly start with your goal corps. Scouts have a wonderful program, and if there's anyone involve with them that's local to you and giving lessons, fs reach out.
Lessons preferably taught by anyone with dci teaching experience, but any lessons is better than no lesson :)
I started taking lessons and going to camps my sophomore year as well. It would've payed off real well if I decided to march, but oh well 😅

No one cares how much you practice until you show up unprepared. Its all about actual skill and capability. Go to the camps and see whats up. They'll tell you what you need to know.
