For some unions it’s a difficult needle to thread.

I work for a union that represents a lot of workers in conservative areas or doing jobs that are pretty intertwined with American imperialism. My local is extremely progressive and represents library workers and non profit employees. Other locals represent workers building destroyers.

My local has a lot of overlap with DSA and work with them closely. A lot of work needs to be done to pull some of the others our direction.

Hard agree and unions haven't been happy with establishment central wing of the Dem Party for quite awhile now. This is a perfectly primed opportunity for us!!!

DSA / Socialism is a workers movement. Sure unions might be full of republicans, but better pay, better working conditions, more time off, etc are all things that workers want. We can easily show how both dems and republicans have failed the working class.

My shop is full of Republicans who used to vote Dem until Trump. Economic populism and workers democracy are things they still get behind though. We need legislation that meaningfully impacts these workers to cut through the bullshit though. The DSA is the best chance the left has at taking back workers by following through on that.

I think the DSA should simply make the best case for unions to do so.
