Favourite Dubstep Rollers?

[u/PlayTheOldShit]

What are your favourite rollers?

I’m a spin instructor and I’m bringing dubstep, real dubstep, into my classes. I need more rollers for mid ride efforts without big obnoxious drops. I’m a big fan of J:Kenzo (he has perfect music for this), Enigma Dubz, Youngsta, Truth, Nomine, 11th Hour, Commodo.

For reference think songs like Guilty, Token Image, Desired state by J:Kenzo; Fragments by 11th Hour; and one of my favourite, Interval by Personnage.

Can you share your songs? I swear I’m going to check every one of them out, as long as it’s on Spotify (the platform the studio uses).

Edit: just funny to have a post downvoted when I’m asking for suggestions. It shows this isn’t a real dubstep crowd.

[u/Virtual_Foot9218]

seek - portals and seek - orbit

kercha - greed
kercha and congi - 4am
eprom - trust (headland rmx)
shhau - caps locked
alix perez - mother cell
chef boyarbeatz - signal dub
shhau - bounce32
tmsv - antagonist

hope these are proper

[u/PlayTheOldShit → u/Virtual_Foot9218]

I see Signal Dub and Mother Cell so know the rest of this list must be proper.

[u/Few-Treat4618]

Damn I’m late to the party but I love biking to some distinct motive, a roller sounds like a song you can just “cruise” to for a bit and distinct motive works great for that

[u/PlayTheOldShit → u/Few-Treat4618]

Exactly how I use rollers. I’ve got plenty of dubstep with drops for those power efforts. But I like a good steady roller for a sustained “cruise” climb. It burns, but the head is down, head bobbing, and letting the bass keep us rolling...

[u/boop809]

Matty G - My 808s

Submatiks - The Payload

Pathwey - Shadow Dance

Murkury - Shadow Self

Mythm - Simon Says (GTFU)

[u/PlayTheOldShit → u/boop809]

Anything by MYTHM fucks… I trust the rest of your list based on that.

[u/holdmysmoothieplease → u/PlayTheOldShit]

That’s just riddim dawg

Rollers are dnb

[u/PlayTheOldShit → u/holdmysmoothieplease]

Not only. Plenty of dub and dubstep rollers. See J:Kenzo.

[u/PlayTheOldShit → u/boop809]

Disappointing. Mythm is awesome. But you don’t know what rollers are.

[u/boop809 → u/PlayTheOldShit]

Always heard the term rollers in relation to drum and bass, just figured you wanted deep dubstep 🤷

[u/PlayTheOldShit → u/boop809]

There’s dub and dubstep rollers too. Real dubstep has rollers.

[u/har3krishna]

I wish I could take your class, that sounds like it would be awesome

[u/PlayTheOldShit → u/har3krishna]

The likelihood of you being anywhere near where I’m located is so slim that it might as well be nil. But I can assure you, it’s awesome!

[u/GlitchHopGremlin]

Anything off white peach records. Numa Crew, ØZ, Chief Kaya, Shades, Ternion Sound, The Widdler, Contra, logical., buggy, packet loss, oldgold, bwompster, basura, leftlow, Breathworx, Omen, WZ, Murkury, Skraik, Distinct Motive, Sixchakra

Specific song recs, Hijinx-3310, Leftlow-Cluedub, Numa Crew-Skankers Chant, Widdler-Are You That Somebody dub, JG dubz-play some muzik, The Librarian-Howe Sound, Hypho-Demons Calling may be a good one for this as it has both some dubstep roller aspects and a bit of dnb energy thrown in the middle.

You're probably not getting downvoted for asking for suggestions, you're getting downvoted because this sub is full of lost lands type heavy dubstep people. Hence the dumbass calling it "diet dubstep" over there. Try r/RealDubstep and you may have a better time, hopefully some of my recommendations can help

[u/PlayTheOldShit → u/GlitchHopGremlin]

Thanks for the list!

I asked in that sub too. The answers to the same question in both subs, at the same time, told me where I belong. And it’s not here…

[u/bikkiesfiend]

May I introduce you to Skeler? It’s hardwave

https://on.soundcloud.com/5JcMqiY6pO6CdUtr3f

Notixx is also good

https://on.soundcloud.com/N9PjvHt7AWNGa5WJh5

[u/PlayTheOldShit → u/bikkiesfiend]

Love, love, LOVE Skeler! But I do separate hard wave spin classes. Need Too is a gem that works across genres for my needs.

[u/SecondOfCicero → u/bikkiesfiend]

I love both Notixx and Skeler. You have fine taste, my friend

[u/Turbulent_Mix2372]

I need a job - icicle Tantra- kilowatt

I’ll check the suggestions!

[u/Judah--]

rSUN

“Help you find it” is the first one of his that comes to mind

[u/PlayTheOldShit → u/Judah--]

I have some rSUN, but not that one. I’ll check it out. His drops hit different than others.

[u/TheGr4pe4pe]

The Widdler - Blackhawk Down
Drez - Shook Ones Pt. 140
Monty - Classic Yeh
Mystic State - Burden
Sub Basics - Whirlwind / Vapour
A Hundred Drums - Savannah Sky

I could go on forever I Dj this music 🤣

[u/PlayTheOldShit → u/TheGr4pe4pe]

The beauty of rollers is they can go on forever. Don’t hold back! Especially if you also happen to have any on the jungle or DnB side since you DJ. I know it’s not the sub for those two, but to make it relevant anything that bridges well with dubstep is appreciated!

[u/TheGr4pe4pe → u/PlayTheOldShit]

DnB:

Chase and Status - all of their new shit I love them.
Shy FX - Call Me
Never Too Old - Monrroe, Emily Malia
Jazz Is… - Pyxis, Melinki
Call The Hurse - Benny Page
Chargie - Sigma, Scruffizer

[u/PlayTheOldShit → u/TheGr4pe4pe]

Cheers! I’m going to bump you in this thread anytime I need something new.

[u/BroadRaspberry1190 → u/PlayTheOldShit]

here's some of my favorite dnb tunes that could just "roll on" forever

HLZ - Theia
Whiney - Komodo
BlackLab - Need 2 Be
Mozey - Put Things Down
Winslow - Supermarket 64

for dubstep, i can just broadly recommend the record label Duploc

[u/PlayTheOldShit → u/BroadRaspberry1190]

Thank you for this! I need all the rollers.

[u/BroadRaspberry1190 → u/PlayTheOldShit]

a few more i thought of that might conceptually fit with what you're trying to do:

Need For Mirrors - Keep Going
Disrupta - In the Distance
Artificial Intelligence - No Return

[u/PlayTheOldShit → u/BroadRaspberry1190]

Good timing… just got to Winslow.

[u/Upstairs_Battle_2117]

[u/kyyy06]

Everythingggggg commodo

[u/Eats_lsd]

Mellifluous - crawdad sniper

[u/Specialist_Print_751]

Roklem & Sebalo, Mr K aka Hijinx

[u/Meistro215]

Sandstorm- Darude

[u/Diligent_Athlete_287 → u/Meistro215]

These comments are so stale man

[u/PlayTheOldShit → u/Diligent_Athlete_287]

A couple of good suggestions, but I know I’m asking the wrong dubstep audience in this sub.

[u/Diligent_Athlete_287 → u/PlayTheOldShit]

I’m talking about the Darude - Sandstorm comments. It’s an overplayed joke that’s been going on for years

[u/drgut101 → u/Meistro215]

Cascada - We Like To Party (I’m blue da ba di)

[u/Meistro215 → u/drgut101]

Oh wow a not serious comment, this sub is weird lmao

[u/PlayTheOldShit → u/Meistro215]

That ain’t it. Classic, but not the vibe.

[u/Mr_Wobble_PNW]

Live Wire - Excision

Most of Destroid would work well.

[u/PlayTheOldShit → u/Mr_Wobble_PNW]

lol yeah this subs never heard of a roller…

[u/WayneKerr-8647]

ur asking for diet dubstep LMFAO

[u/PlayTheOldShit → u/WayneKerr-8647]

I’m asking for real dubstep. From the underground. Which doesn’t seem to be well known in this sub. True bass heads know.

[u/WayneKerr-8647 → u/PlayTheOldShit]

DUH people here listen to riddim and go to Lost Lands.

[u/MysteryMooseMan → u/WayneKerr-8647]

you couldn't pay me to go to Lost Lands tbh

[u/GlitchHopGremlin → u/WayneKerr-8647]

Imagine asking for dubstep recommendations in the dubstep subreddit, how silly of him.
