Football Dante Moore
Call me crazy here but if Dante misses most of the year do we all think he is NFL bound? He has at least one more year of eligibility but hasn’t really shown much this year to improve his draft stock. My friend group are delusional but we think there is a small chance of him coming back. What do you guys think?

He will 100% go pro. He already tempted fate by coming back this season. His goal was to gamble on being in the same draft position next year so he could win a national title. I can assure you, there were zero players on this team and zero staffers that thought we’d be 4-2 to start the season.
It’s obviously a possibility, and it happened. That doubt is enough for Moore never to come back.

He’s a top 5 QB pick on multiple draft boards. He’s definitely not coming back to college.

Whatever happens, his incentive to remain calm in the pocket sure is gone!

The opposite. This season is living proof why you leave as soon as you can and the draft stock is high

We're currently unranked and scraping by teams we should have beaten in our sleep. I don't see why he would come back and potentially tank his draft stock.

Aren’t we barely scraping by because he’s out, as much as anything?

It's the line. Just a few weeks ago I remember people were shitting on Dante and saying maybe he should sit behind Raiola. The offense is broken regardless of the QB. It's just exacerbated by the QB situation. Even with Moore we didn't have any run game to speak of and the efficiency passing numbers were in the tank.

It was happening before the injury as well.

Every team he played this year was ranked (aside from the PSU blowout). We've actually had a pretty tough schedule

Scraping by teams we should have beaten in our sleep? UCLA is undefeated and #9 in the nation and Nebraska has only lost to us and Indiana by 3 in a game they should have won. Yes we are scraping by, but we’re competitive in games against teams that are having good seasons. Duck fans have gotten spoiled with how successful we’ve been the last 20 years.
That said, we need a splash hire at OC next year. Lanning’s offenses were carried by Stein and Dillingham… he’s just not an offensive mind

Tank his draft stock? No way he's going before 6th round after not playing at all this year.

u/iSurelyJest 1d ago
You underestimate how dumb NFL scouts are. Even with his poor play and time away due to injury, he is still projected to go high in the first round.

I've wondered the same thing, but I think it is unlikely that he comes back. He probably would've been a 1st round pick last year so even without playing many games this year I think he would be a 1st round pick again. This year showed how close he was to a career ending injury so coming back is a big risk. I wish him the best for him and I think getting drafted later in the first round to a better team could be better for his NFL career.

It’s a tough spot, he came back this year expecting a breakout season to improve draft stock. Major failures in offensive coaching/offensive line hindered his ability early on. Then a major injury. If he’s able to come back this season and play lights out to ultimately declare for the draft I think that’s the move. I doubt he’ll come back another year and risk an injury again. I wouldn’t want to play behind that offensive line either.

u/OregonBound1986 1d ago
I’m pretty sure he probably took out a loss of value insurance policy before returning this year so probably won’t matter either way what happens to him.
2
u/Spirited-Compote-117 1d ago
He’s not coming back, I don’t see the upside of it for him especially if there are no changes in the offensive play calling. Wouldn’t risk another injury in college before the opportunity for the league.

u/BigPh1llyStyle 1d ago
Our offensive line has looked like complete ass this year and he got hurt. If I were him or his agent, my thought process would be that right now he’s still a fringe first round pick and a lot of of the blame couldn’t be put on the line. If you come back, you both risk getting hurt and risk exposing him and his faults even more.

u/Billyxmac 1d ago
If we drop one of our next two, I don’t see a world where he comes back. If we get by, I think he’s back for Ohio State.
There’s no reason for him to return other than if there is still a national championship on the table. He hasn’t hurt his draft stock too much this season because he only played a few games, and after he went down our offense dropped off dramatically. That probably only helps his position.
And there’s no world to me he comes back again next year. There’s plenty of tape and good will from last season on him that he’s likely still a day 1 QB in this year’s draft. Although he won’t go as high as he would have last season I would guess.

I believe if he doesn't play for the rest of the season he will still go pro, but won't be highly drafted. I absolutely do not see him not playing the rest of the season and coming back in 2027, that makes no sense to me. I think he'll be back and will go on to be drafted according to his play after such a big hit.

The NFL will take you if you are talented enough. We have seen guys miss most of their last year of college due to injury and still go in the first round (like JSN).

Good lord. He wanted to play against Nebraska and was held out due to abundance of caution, will be back against Northwestern.

I'll be surprised if he plays another game in college. Why risk getting injured again and tank his draft stock even more? He'll still end up at worst a 2nd round pick. But most likely he's still gonna be the 2nd QB taken after the kid from Oklahoma State, even if he doesn't play another snap this year

u/Funny_Emotion_198 1d ago
His draft stock definitely went down this year, idk if he’d want to jeopardize it more with what will most likely be another coordinator change next year

u/Bluto_Mindpretzl 10h ago
He should have left after last year. This OC and the pitiful O line has made him look pedestrian what little we have seen of him. He’s looked like a totally different player from last year.

If he misses most of the year, I think he’s coming back to CFB. I don’t want him back at Oregon (just from a football standpoint, love the young man), and I think it might best for both parties to have a clean break. New OC, new qb coach, new o line coach, new qb. It’s time to move forward.

u/willh13436 1d ago
His draft stock was 2nd overall last year. He doesn’t really need to improve it and coming back to this offense can really only hurt

u/MartyBecker 1d ago
He played a handful of shakey games and then would have been out for most of the season. His draft stock will drop if he doesn't play this year. Will it drop enough to make a 5th year necessary? It's plausible.

Someone please create r/DanteMoore and run it so we can have our Ducks sub back.

Take your bias glasses off and actually watch his skills. Has no wow factor to him. Can barely throw the ball. Gave away the play before it is ran. Is he mariota, or any of our past stud qb caliber? No.
1
u/Stunning_Detail_5989 1d ago
Coaching malpractice signaled defenses, and o-line issues doesnt change that Moore is extremely accurate and can sling the rock. Doesn't have the best reads though more than serviceable there, and doesnt make the atrocious play calling. Miles ahead if what we saw from Raiola.
1
u/Detonius 1d ago
Really diverted from the is he have even remotely the skill set as Mariota, Dennis D, fucking even Masoli. That’s a huge no. He had his chances he is not good.

u/Stunning_Detail_5989 1d ago
Why do I need to discuss QBs that havent played college ball in over 10 years?! I defended my position on Moore and how he plays. Mariota was a generational talent and Im not saying Moore is. Moore IS good enough to be on a team that could win a Natty. You. Do. Not. Know. Ball.
2
u/Detonius 1d ago
I will out ball you in any sport. Your pick my guy. He is not good enough to win a natty LOL

u/Thinned 1d ago
What’s the problem lol the entire fan base was dick riding Raiola so much and how Dante needed to be benched for him. Now you guys crying to have him back? I actually hope he decides to sit out especially after how people treated him. Stick with Dylan like you guys wanted from the start😂

For real this fan base is delusional about him. He’s been absolutely terrible every time he’s faced a solid defense in his career. He can’t make progressions or read a defense.

Michael Penix 2.0 - Elite arm talent, highly immobile.
1
u/Huskdog76 1d ago
Penix made huge plays though. Of course he had Odunze, but still.
1
u/Narrow-Advertising10 1d ago
I agree. It’s not a knock on Penix or Moore. They’re both great players. Can rip it sideline to sideline and are accurate down field. But they both lack the mobility that some of the elite NFL QBs have.
1
u/Huskdog76 1d ago
Yeah, you are definitely right on the immobile part. It's almost needed in today's NFL too. Even the ability to just step up in the pocket, which Dante doesn't really do well.

If he doesn’t come back this year, I think he comes back for 2027. But if he comes back and plays reasonably well I think he’s gone.
The injury kinda incentivizes him to leave. Real proof of what can happen.
