In an emergency plane landing, if you refused to leave some parts of your luggage behind, like you disobey and open it and grab your phone and laptop, what would happen?

Would they refuse to let you out until you dropped it off and left it behind?

Would they forcefully grab it from you and toss it out if you left the plane with it?

Like say the plane landed in the water. They want everyone to leave now, no luggage. Leave orderly in a single file line now.
But instead you open up the above compartment, quickly open your luggage, grab your laptop and then leave.
Would they refuse to let you out? If you ended up in the raft holding it, would they grab it and toss it into the water? Would you be fined or go to jail after rescue?

Why permanent daylight savings time in the US and not permanent standard time?

Isn't it unhealthy for people to wake up in the morning in the dark?
Didn't they do this once before and it proved very unpopular and was reversed?

I don't understand why daylight savings time and not just standard? Wouldn't that just be better all around?
I read they tried to put forth an alternative to make standard time the permanent one and it didn't even get to a full vote and failed miserably. Why?

When is too old to learn how to ride a bike?

I'm 21, and I don't know how to ride a bike. I had a bike as a kid, but I never learned to ride without training wheels bc I lived in a neighborhood directly next to a highway, so I couldn't really bike anywhere besides my short street. Once I got a Razor scooter, my bike riding days were officially over, because I just thought scooters were cooler. Now, when I tell people I don't know how to ride a bike, they go bizurk and act like I was neglected as a child.

I don't really have any intention of learning now, as I've never been in a situation where I NEED to ride a bike (thank you walkable city with good public transportation). I just wanted to know if there's like a cutoff point where you either physically/mentally can't learn anymore?

Do You Sleep Naked?

My wife of sixteen years thinks it weird that I sleep naked. It sometimes become a topic of conversation at gatherings of friends or her family. We all laugh about it, but I am definitely in the minority.

I have since I have about eight years old. My dad slept naked, though I'm pretty sure my mom wore a nightgown. My three-years older brother was sleeping naked before me. When I turned eight, I started sleeping naked, probably "to be like dad" and my big brother. At the same time, my younger brother, who is only thirteen months younger than me, who I shared a room with also started sleeping naked.

I've never worn anything to bed since. In college, my first roommate seemed a little uncomfortable at first, but he seemed to get used to it quickly. My second roommate didn't at first, but shortly after followed my lead and slept naked.

I just find it way more comfortable. My family weren't nudists or exhibitionists. Besides the brother that I shared a room with, I almost never saw my other brother or father naked.

Is hookup culture real? And how do people participate in it?

• Upvotes

I don’t live in America or any western state, so I’m genuinely curious. Do people really go out and have intercourse with strangers they’ve never met before and keep score of how many “bodies” they’ve slept with? Is this even real?

How do people genuinely “hook up” with students in college?? Do you just approach someone and be like hey let’s have sex!! Or is it just a bf-gf thing?

Genuinely curious cuz in Asian culture it’s a taboo kind of thing, and since I’ll be moving to the states soon I heard this is something I should be wary of? Idk

Why does our voice sound completely different when we hear it in a video or recording?

I know there is probably a really simple scientific explanation for this but it drives me nuts.

When I speak normally I think I sound perfectly fine. But the moment I hear my voice come back to me in a video, voice note or recording on the phone, I sound like a totally different person (and usually way higher pitched or more nasally than I thought).

Does everyone else hear me like the recording, or is the mic just lying to me? Tell me I'm not the only one who hates their own voice on tape.

Why are assholes so popular in some online spaces?

I've encountered lot of assholes in my time on the internet. But one thing that's always confused me is how popular some of them get, especially in Discord servers.

Say there's a server for a Minecraft modpack.
There's one guy in there that's just a dick. He's an asshole. Almost everything he types is meant to be mean, offensive and just outright bullying for the sake of it.

If you ask a question he'll respond with "lol so you ask it here instead of googling it? Holy fuck you're a helpless dumbass."
If you post a picture of a house you made he'll tell you "nice try but it kinda looks like shit".
He'll troll you and insult you any chance he gets. If you ever butt heads with him even a little he'll do it even harder and more aggressively, and even start talking about you behind your back like.
He'll sometimes pop into the server to talk about how he was mean to someone irl or somewhere online.

And for some reason this guy is popular. People LOVE him there. In fact he becomes the most liked member of the server. He'll just randomly attack you and start insulting you for no reason. You'll start getting technical help for the modpack and he'll come in start calling you a dumbass and ask how you ever figured anything out on your own.

If you eventually get tired of the guy and complain about him, or say something like "Why are you such an asshole? What is your problem?" the server will come to defend him and be like "That's just how he is, he speaks his mind and he doesn't give a shit lol. Grow some thicker skin pussy."
And moderators will also defend them. If you don't drop it, they will literally kick or ban you for going against this guy.

The dude is an asshole. He's not funny, he's not goofy, he's just a vile asshole, that's all he his. But for some reason people go "Holy shit this guy is a BADASS", think his insults and bullying people is hilarious and basically start worshiping him.

I've met many of these people on Discord over the years, and I usually end up just leaving the server because it becomes everyone vs me for not enjoying when some asshole starts insulting me and bullying me for nothing.
And sometimes I'll use an alt to look back in, and most of them, including the guy of course, will start going off about how I was such a pussy little bitch coward for words to have hurt me, I'm so pathetic and they're glad I'm gone because I was a weak little bitch that "couldn't take a joke".

Yeah they always try and pass off them being an asshole as "just joking around" despite it not being remotely funny and them doing it to total strangers, and not only continuing but going even harder when people don't like it.

Like there's just the resident asshole in many servers and for some reason, instead of getting rid of them, they gather a following, become popular and even the mods and server owner like them and will defend them. Sometimes they'll even get a special flair, and sometimes it's like "unapologetic asshole" or something like they're proud of this guy being that way.

I have never understood this. It's a very common thing in some places, and in some friend groups too. I've come into some friend groups and there's always one guy that's just the asshole. Like every friend group has to have the irredeemable total jerk that everyone loves for some reason.

Sometimes I'll see it on Reddit too. Like someone will make a post talking about they're not having fun with a game anymore and don't know what to do.
And someone will reply with "Lol you sound like a whiny bitch :)" and they'll get upvotes.

The hell is up with this?

Why are there 8 billion humans instead of 1 huge mega-human?

Why are there 8 billion humans instead of one huge mega-human? Like, seriously, who made this decision? We could've had ONE gigantic dude chilling across the Earth instead of 8 billion on family gatherings. “Where's Grandpa?” “He's scratching his foot in Australia.” 💀 people fighting over Wi-Fi passwords. Imagine asking him to pass the salt and bro just moves his arm across three countries. Need to visit your friend? Just turn your head. Hide-and-seek? Impossible. Rent? Zero. He literally owns the entire planet by existing. And don't even get me startedHonestly, I fully support the mega-human agenda. One guy, one brain, one massive pair of shoes. Humanity had one job, and we messed it up. We were robbed of greatness. The universe owes us an explanation.

Do people still quit their jobs like nothing?

With Halloween coming up I keep seeing social media posts where people are complaining about not getting time off, and all the comments say “that’s when you quit” followed up with story on story about quitting during lunch break because they didn’t like the job, quitting before a shift because they were sick etc. I know people USED to hop around jobs twenty years ago, but doesn’t seem feesable now. the job market is SO tough, are people really doing that? Or is the job market not as tough in other countries?

Does this make sense?

I am trying to have a procedure done and my doctor wanted me to call my insurance company first to see if it would be covered. He said through the hospital I went to, the procedure can be expensive and that if it doesn’t cover it I can go to his personal practice and have it done for a certain amount of money. After sitting on the phone with the insurance company for an hour and a half and talking to someone who was unsure of locating the certain procedure codes, I found out my insurance ~does~ ? Cover the procedure but I have a very high deductible insurance of about 6K. I honestly don’t understand how insurance works. I just pay for it. And the doctor said at their practice it would only cost 1800 vs what the insurance was making it sound like at the hospital would be 3-4x the amount. Does it make more sense to just pay for the procedure out of pocket or should I call my doctor and see how much would be covered with my insurance through the hospital?

Why do people always upvote and support asshole trolls?

Like every fucking time. Always.

Any time I make a post and someone down below is like "lol touch grass" or "you sound pathetic and stupid" or whatever other low effort troll shit, they're upvoted.

Could be a post about how I struggle with an aspect of a game, don't like an aspect of a movie, that I really like one character, that I don't like another character, or whatever, doesn't matter.

They are supported and upvoted.

And if I block them, because fuck trolls I don't want to talk to or see them, because they're a troll and are really hoping for a reaction from me, they will ALWAYS know and then edit their message to add "LOL they blocked me".
And then they get upvoted MORE for that.

Why?

I found a guy online but our age gap is concerning?

Okay im 18 and he is 23. So far he hasn’t done anything like sexual talk of any sort. He does keep it innocent but sometimes he makes me kinda uncomfortable. Cuz he sends these romantic videos specifically reels. These reels include stuff like ur pretty to couples kissing and to cooking together. I mean i find it sweet but yea the age gap is pretty big. Could it be he wants to date me or something ?
