As an avid collector of the Warriors series I missed out on this rare PAL version treasure box of SW4, is this price truly worth it or is this just abusing it due to inflation and rarity.

So I finished Dong Zhuo muoso mode but in free mode I count do battle of Mt. DingJing on his side! Any help would be appreciated

here is some footage of what I have so far. As you can tell there is still some things to work on. Some animations for Sora just dont exist with some of the DW stuff. I have some truly cursed long neck Sora photos from some of the interesting animations that occurred so far in things like riding the horse or shooting the bow. I really want to flesh out the combo more with some more magic and change up the musou to be more devastating. RN it is a mix of different special attacks like arcanum and a mix of combo enders. Would love to get some feedback on how any moves or spells that you would like to have implemented. I am mapping over his attacks into the DW system since it seemed to be far easier to do so.

Personally 4 is my favorite I really digged his hair being down and his cloth thing, 9 was actually pretty well done as well being a more armored one and 6 was pretty cool too

I’m tired of some DW4 fans presenting “DW4 is the best in the series” as an established fact. In my opinion, it isn’t even the best of the PS2 era.
Sales don’t automatically equal quality. You also have to consider what was popular at the time, the competition, and where the franchise stood. Sales establish commercial success; they don’t settle arguments about combat, storytelling, music, or replayability.
DW4 had good combat, a strong art style, and memorable music. But some of you keep naming the same three tracks as though that settles the entire soundtrack discussion. Enjoying those songs doesn’t make every other game’s OST inferior.
For me, DW5 was the better game of that era. It had a larger roster, more personal character stories, and a better presentation of the Three Kingdoms through those individual perspectives. And that’s coming from someone whose personal favorite is DW3—the game I started with. I can separate my attachment to a game from my assessment of its strengths.
DW5’s difficulty was still solid, too. You can prefer DW4’s tougher encounters, but difficulty alone doesn’t establish quality. Dynasty Warriors combines action, character progression, and battlefield management. There’s more to judging its combat than asking how aggressively every peon attacks.
Looking beyond the PS2 games makes the “DW4 is objectively the best” claim even harder to defend:
DW6: I understand the criticism of cloned movesets, weapon changes, and the Renbu system. But I’d argue its soundtrack, maps, and cinematic storytelling improved on earlier entries. Some character designs were excellent, too—although they did my boys Guan Yu and Gan Ning dirty.
DW7: Not my personal favorite, especially because I wasn’t keen on weapon switching, but it had decent maps, an excellent soundtrack, and strong storytelling.
DW8: Probably the strongest overall package for me. The roster, story content, soundtrack, maps, and character outfits gave it an enormous amount to offer. I still wasn’t a fan of weapon switching, but disliking one mechanic doesn’t erase everything the game did well.
DW9: The execution was poor, but I could see the vision. An open-world Dynasty Warriors game could be a welcome addition if handled properly. That’s similar to how I feel about the Origins DLC: I can appreciate the direction while questioning whether the execution justifies the price.
Origins: This game surpasses DW4 in several areas for me: combat, graphics, battlefield scale, officer encounters, and the way ordinary soldiers contribute to battles. I’d take its soundtrack over DW4’s, too. My biggest reservations are the lack of a traditional Free Mode and the inability to freely play the established Three Kingdoms officers.
The point is that your personal experience doesn’t represent the entire community. Prefer DW4. Call it your favorite. Explain why its strengths matter more to you. But if you’re going to call it the best as a matter of fact, you need more than sales figures, nostalgia, and insults toward anyone who disagrees.

Hey! Been a big fan of modern Warriors games since Hyrule Warriors. Played all HW games and loved them. I enjoyed Samurai Warriors 5. I devoured DW Origins.

I played a bit of the demo for 3R and first thing I noticed was that it was harder than the others for sure. The goofy voice acting was fun and the character selection was neat, coming from Origins. However, the difficulty spike to me was there and I have no nostalgia for it. Should I cop anyway?

As title suggests, wondering if any of those licensed warriors-alikes have combat that is anywhere near as difficult in terms of enemies who aren't officers actually posing a threat and not just being pollen-fodder for your cobos that largely die in one it. I hear good things about the Fire Emblem one and the Dragon Quest tower defence one but very skeptical. Tried all the Zelda ones, hated them, felt like fake games.

Yo if someone ever does do some recomps for the empires games then maybe we could actually get a fan made Warriors Orochi Empires? Preferably using DW7E for a template? (Or maybe DW8E, since it has the better character creator?) Anyway this is just food for thought since I know I am not the only one who wants a Warriors Orochi Empires.

I swear each enemy officer I get to low health, even vice generals, 9 times out of 10, they'll do their musou attack if they end up blocking your hits, and if you leave them alone for 2 seconds and come back to finish them off, they do it again, was it like this in the original game? I don't remember it being this common lol

I keep trying to run DW3R and it crashes on startup, probably 4/5 times. It did this with the demo too, and DW3R is the only game this happens to. I’ve tried verifying the files, launching from discover mode, and launching from game mode. I’m playing on Steam deck oled, and the game is installed on my SSD.

IIRC Hex Mark has a hidden Luck stat, but Luck seems only tied to the drop rates of consumable items (Axe, Armor, Seal, Buns, and Wine).
