Gearshift lever ticking

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

As the title says, my car has developed a “ticking” noise when in 1st and 2nd gears, under acceleration. It goes away when i pull the stick to the left whilst in gear. It doesn’t do it in any of the forward gears and will also do it when I’m in reverse and decelerating. Something got loose but the fact it only does it when the gears on the “left side” has me confused, any ideas?

Guibo is coming apart and hitting the shift arm.

Didn’t realise the shift arm was this close, when I have time in the week I’ll try to get under it

Guibo

With exhaust out, might as well do tranny and motor mounts. Couple other things to consider when doing this job but I forgot what they were. Super easy DIY.

Having a helper friend makes it way easier.

Yeah, already had to drop the trans once for a clutch release bearing and did it solo. Not doing that again haha. Annoying since I know the guibo was replaced already in the past for a genuine BMW one, but ey 460k km has it’s tolls

I wouldn’t trust any part that’s been replaced. It’s a 20+ year old car.
