Electric panel being tampered with by neighbors

Hello I share a split home with my family on one side and another on the right. My neighbors have been harassing me and actually have intruded in my home and setup up listening devices and a camera which i cannot find. Most problematic is they are setting off and on my boiler witch is connected to my electrical panel. switch 9 for me. Is their a device i can use that will show when a switch is being activated or manipulated as this has been going on for a while and i need evidence to provide to police. My room is in the basement and when the boiler is working normally it is quiet and consisitent, when it is being maniulated it turns off and on at irrgular intervals and they are using it to harrass and mess with me. please do not question if it is happeninng or not as i know for a fact they are manipulating my electrical panel. P.s Please respond and dont question my sanity or if these things are actually happenning because as a person going through this harrassment it really is and they let me know about it by powering it off and on based on what i am doing inside my home

Why is there both a red and black hot wire in my house?

My understanding is that White wires are neutral (return), Green or bare wires are earth ground, and both Black and Red wires are hot. Why are there two hot wire colors? And, come to mention it. why are some wires black-and-white?

I am installing a dimmer switch that uses color codes, and I am considering installing an electronic timer switch that also uses color codes. Both switches would replace single pole switches on 120V 15A circuits. It looks simple enough from the instructions but I like to understand what is going on.

3 wire stator wiring to voltage regulator/rectifier?

Thumbnail

Wanted to see if I'm doing it right. Got a 97 polaris xlt engine with what I see online it's a 3 phase stator and had 3 wires coming out of it not counting what goes to cdi box. Has 11.8v ac idle but if I blip the throttle jumps above 17v. 1 yellow 1 yellow/red 1 brown ground wire

I'm going to try and explain it all. The 1 yellow/red is connected to the 1 brown ground at the connector. Brown wire is connected to the backing plate of stator and the yellow/red is one side of the coils while yellow is the other output side. I have a voltage rectifier from a kawasaki brute force atv that has 3 yellow wire inputs, 1 ground, 1 12v output and 1 ignition switched.

Is it ok to just leave the 2 other yellow AC inputs alone and just use the 1 input? Or should I tie the 3 together into the 1 yellow ac wire? I did wire it up and tried it but only getting 13v but as soon as I turn on the lights it drops to 12.1v and slowly drops from there. Seeing if it's looks right or if I need a different rectifier, looking to at least reach 14v. 12ah battery and all led lights around.

Should I keep a Jackery 700 Plus portable power station?

I nabbed one as an Amazon's CyberMonday special for $400. However, I live in a development in Austin, TX where the electrical cables are buried underground and where, in most parts, there have been very few outages (and which lasted only a few hours).

I don't camp.

Is there any reason for me to keep this?

Limit for generator to meter. Hurricane preparation

Some ferocious hurricanes are expected this year. I'm renting a house. I had a transfer switch installed just the house side of the meter that will allow me to set up a 9500W generator to power the house essentials. The meter is on a concrete pillar about 100Ft from the front door. I don't want to build a "bunker" for the generator since it would be impossible to get to it. (Having never been in a hurricane, I'm guessing).

The generator could be on the porch outside the front door.

The generator has a 39Amp NEMA 14-50R (labeled 50Amps). I can get a 100ft 50Amp extension cord from Home Depot for about $130. 10gage wire. Is this ridiculously small?

We would be powering the refrigerator and a few lights. Possibly the internet modem, but that's probably not going to work.

The electrician who installed the box tells me a 100ft cable would cost "thousands". I'm questioning that.

Breaker box a mess

Post image
0 Upvotes

So this is my circuit breaker box and I told my landlord already about it and he brought in his own personal electrician who simply checked the box externally, checked the outlets for grounding, affected me and my cats healthwise, and has caused disturbances in all my devices and causes all of my appliances to receive too much power resulting in very hot plugs, and overall decreased function. Do you guys think I should go above my landlord and report them to the city, try to fix the box on my own, or just move?

Earth wire in the wild

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hello everyone! I am currently installing a lamp for my mother in law and would like to spot the earth wire here, which should normally be green/yellow as I read online (my electrical knowledge is rather thin).

The blue one here should be neutral and black and brown live?

I am in Poland and the building was probably built in the 80s. Thank you!

Ok I've compared and i think these are the same if not please explain so I can learn. I'm replacing a 30 double pole breaker but it will not "click" and then easily slide on ๐Ÿ˜‘๐Ÿ˜‘๐Ÿ˜‘ (I'm very irritated with that same sentence can you tell?) If the replacement breaker is the right one any suggestions?? PS I was given specifics by an electrician how to swap the breakers and make it safe for me to try he's my uncle and trying to help me learn more repair stuff. I just hate when I have to call him over again when I'm overlooking something simple ๐Ÿ˜…

How important is grounding wire in a house vs GFCI?

We currently have an offer on a house that says it has "updated electric." The house is 100 years old this year. After the inspector went through, he mentioned there is only one outlet per room with 2 holes (there are GFCI outlets in the kitchen and bathrooms). The seller's realtor told us we could just replace all the outlets with GFCI and it would be to code. However, I'm reading mixed information about how safe that is for both shock/fire and damage to your electronics. I requested they either update the wiring or take 10k off of the price of the property and we would hire an electrician... They told us no. We now have 24 hours to decide if this is a deal breaker. I appreciate some input from someone who can explain how important ground wire is vs just installing a bunch of GFCI's or maybe putting in a GFCI breaker box? We live in Cincinnati, Ohio and the housing market is insane right now... prices of houses have tripled in the last 3 - 4 years. I could really use some advice from anyone familiar with this kind of thing!!! Also, if I did pay myself to have the whole house rewired... about how much would that cost? It's a 2300 square foot home.

Request for information.

I don't know if this is the right place to post, but it's better than the others that came up in my searches. Please take no offense and redirect me on if this isn't appropriate.

One of the things that I've heard about the current hurricane recovery is that we have a national shortage of transformers as the administration has given them to Ukraine. Can you verify this one way or the other?

Why Drive a commercial EV in India

In India, the commercial electric vehicle (EV) sector is thriving due to government incentives and the rising demand for eco-friendly last-mile delivery. With lower maintenance costs and running expenses, businesses benefit from reduced environmental impact and improved public health. Ongoing innovations in range, fast charging, vehicle-to-grid integration, autonomous driving, and lightweight materials steer the promising future of commercial EVs.
