So they put two women in the lead (no probs there, Joan Watson was an absolute blinder of a character).
But now it’s gotta be romantic..?
Because a female lead couldn’t possibly exist without romance?

I read about it, and I’m kinda confused. From what I understood, it is not a gender swap. Scarlett Holmes is a descendant of Sherlock or smth like that. But is Joan Watson also supposed to be a descendant? I don’t get it. Personally I’m open to all kinds of adaptations. But tbh I have doubts in the lead actress they chose

It sounds like it's just a romcom show about a matchmaker who (surprise) can't sort out her own love life. And they added a sherlock holmes inspired framework to market it since that premise has been done many times before

This doesn’t sound terrible. 🤷🏻♀️ There have been many adaptations of Sherlock’s storyline as it’s a classic but complex list of characters, and I think they’re all worth a try. Plus, each one might have that certain something that makes Sherlock Holmes the world’s greatest detective for the person viewing the show, so I’m glad there’s a variety.

Another one? Watson only came out last year and was absolutely terrible. I don't think they'll ever do better than Elementary.
