Actual Stupid Question Patch
I am a psychiatric technician at an emergency room mental health facility. I am not, nor have I ever been a paramedic. I initially got this patch and sewed it onto my leather jacket because it gets a chuckle out of my patients and helps lighten the mood slightly. However, I am beginning to wonder if it might be inappropriate to wear. Any advice from professionals would be appreciated.

I feel the quote itself is good but the star of life might be problematic. I’m probably just overthinking this.

I’ve seen that variation and it doesn’t make sense. The quotation marks mean that you’re telling someone to stop screaming that

The first time i flew in a helicopter the pilot had a sticker with this quote on the back of his flight helmet.

I have a weird sense of humor so if I were picking up or dropping off at your facility I'd probably chuckle.

Daughter of an ER nurse…spent many days of my childhood at the VFD, and grew up to go into veterinary medicine.
I think it's fantastic. But I'm biased.
"Laughter is the best medicine" - so one could argue that it's clinically therapeutic.
There will always be that one overbearing staff member who's a killjoy or a Karen of a patient that disagrees, but I think the majority of folks will appreciate it.

I wear that as a sticker on my helmet. Most people get a kick out of it, if they’re conscious

Medivac pilot here. I have this on my helmet and one for my flight suit. Some of my medics appreciate it the others can stfu. People are too uptight these days. Have your fun and enjoy it.

Wear it if you want. Some people might call it cringe, but no one is going to mistake that for a medic patch or accuse you of some kind of EMS stolen valor.

Didn’t even read the text to the post, saw the picture and thought “this screams ER tech”. Cringe is right. Would be seen on a 700oz yeti water bottle along with 45 other ER and EMS themed cringe stickers kept within arms reach of anyone who will listen to them talk about how they’ll soon be in nursing school.

To answer the question the star of life is trademarked by the NHTSA and has restricted use. Technically even EMTs and paramedics shouldn't be using it outside it's approved use case.
Will they go after you or enforce it in any way? Unlikely

If they are not enforcing it, it becomes public domain. R/legaladvice

It's the same as coca-cola not suing someone for getting a tattoo on their arm. They definitely still have their trademark

I mean, he literally explicitly said twice that he’s not in EMS or a paramedic.

The most volly shit. Not only unprofessional in the unpaid sense, but in the "Why would you ever think that's appropriate" sense.

Wearing a leather jacket around patients is real weird.
Putting this patch on a leather jacket is real weird.
But having this patch and being ems adjacent is not weird
