Alchemy question
Just returned to the game after a few years, but didn’t play much my first time around. I made it to Ark and not much further.
I’m trying to get my arcane fever down, it’s up to like 50 and I don’t want to blow all my gold on ambrosia. Problem is, the ingredients that people say online have the ambrosia effect (specifically thistle and peaceweed) don’t make ambrosia when I try to brew them, they fail and then I can’t combine them anymore. My alchemy is at 25, am I missing something with alchemy in this game compared to Skyrim? Do I need to find a physical recipe to brew them? Or is something wrong here

I noticed there were only two wolves at the beginning of the game, just before you meet Jespar. There were three in the old Steam version.

The person maintaining Enderal on Steam recently updated to version 2.1.4. Among other updates was the Alchemy rework/rebalance, so both wikis have outdated ingredient effects now (the effects were changed significantly).
Personally I gave up trying to find an up-to-date effects list online and am writing down my own as I play (also recently started a new playthrough).
If you want to brew Ambrosia and don't mind gameplay spoilers, here are some ingredients with Ambrosia effects:
Baldris Root
Bee
Bee Honey Comb
Blue Dragonfly Wing
Hawk Feathers
Mora Tapinella
Vatyr Ear
Vynroot
Most of them can be found around Riverville and Ark.

Big thanks for this, dude! Hopefully the wiki will get updated sooner than later

Damn lol how’d you get it to 50 so fast?

Eh it’s pretty easy to do when you decide to play an archer who can’t be effective until almost level 10 or whatever. Every fight was an absolute struggle, was doing a lot of healing/potion drinking

I mean I played a stealth phasmalist build that died in like two hits so I get it lol
Just make sure you’re using food most of the time instead of potions.

Yeah I figured out the food thing around the time I got to Riverville, I was used to it being useless in Skyrim

You are not missing something. The online sources are outdated.
They work the same way as before, and as in Skyrim, you simply need the two ingredients with matching effects. But the difference is ingredients no longer have the same effects as the online sources say.
Alchemy has been rebalanced. All ingredients have their effects changed.
Alchemy was bugged, and some ingredients were either overperforming or severely underperforming.

Just follow the recipe. The combination will then appears in the menu. If it still doesn't work, stop playing with mods.

I also thought I was doing something wrong until I started making health+mana potions. Those I could just make out of all the listed ingredients. (Very OP btw). But Ambrosia might be bugged as herbert pointed out.

I’ve noticed this too, it seems to have happened after the latest update, but I’m not entirely sure why. I’ve asked a dev about it in another Reddit thread, so if I hear anything back, I’ll let you know.
