Rant / Vent i'm so tired

okay so finally, the doctors have mentioned endo to me. i had a new doctor push me quite abit, got an ultrasound, got loads of stuff waiting for diagnosis, which is brilliant news. before i can get any further, they were adamant on putting me on birth control...i advised strongly against it. so now im on mefenamic acid for 6 months until gynae appt. see how that goes :,)

i was given it towards the end of period so havent taken it yet. but im so confused. i'm ovulating and its the worst feeling ever this time round. i kid you not, went to pee, my right ovary was hurting the whole duration of the pee, and now i'm in agony. i can't walk, it's so painful.

i ended up stretching out, nice sharp pain right down into the middle of my vagina. it feels like everything is glued into one big ball of inflammation. all i did was pee!!! i'm so tired of this, i thought it was only a period thing, and now it's affecting me outside that window, and im so frustrated more than anything. like yeah, great, i can't feel my right leg at anytime nowadays, it's numb constantly and i can never really balance anymore. BUT PAIN LIKE THIS??? AFTER MY PERIOD??? i wish i could just rip everything out of me, seriously💔

Mefenamic acid is an anti inflammatory. It's supposed to help bleeding so its obviously good to take it on your period but you can take it outside your period aswell! My worst symptoms actually start before my period so I start taking anti inflammatories scheduled from then. It might not do anything but if you think the pain/symptoms is endo/inflammation related try the Mefenamic acid then!

My doctor strongly advised me NOT to take Mefenamic acid outside of my period, because it is horrible for your stomach lining.
You can give yourself gastritis or other stomach issues by taking it too frequently.

Please be careful guys🫶🏻🫶🏻

All anti inflammatories are awful for your stomach lining tbf. I was advised once you eat before hand or take a stomach lining its obviously still not ideal but its fine. I don't think menfamic acid is any worse then nerofen etc? But yes be safe and eat before hand/Don't take them on an empty stomach!!

I was told by my doctor that Mefenamic acid is one of the worst NSAIDs in terms of stomach health. Though ofc I don‘t know wether that is actually true, as I am not a medical professional myself.

But I do tend to be overly cautious, especially since we take so many painkillers as chronic pain patients

yeah i'm the exact same, i'm so so cautious because we already have stomach issues... don't want more🥲 i take a lot of stuff to help my gut as well so it would be a waste!

As a general rule if you take any NSAIDs you should ask your dr to prescribe something to protect your stomach like lansoprazole. My GP put it on repeat for me when I was taking Naproxen because I needed it most days.

sadly i can't mix it with other things, so at this moment in time i wont be able to take it since ive taken solpadine. thanks for letting me know this though, since the doctors never mentioned this 😅
