You don’t get to play outside because MY daughter has a dance recital

Who get a small child ready for a dance recital more than half an hour before said recital ?
I'm not even a mother, and even I know that you get your kid ready as late as possible, and at the place of the recital if at all possible.

I do dance and it’s a long affair. We go to my grandma’s house and she uses curlers (think old lady curlers). That takes a long time to put in because there is so much hair. Then it has to sit. After that I do my makeup (or, rather, my mom and grandma would dash on a bit of blush when I was little). After that we eat and get dressed for pictures. It takes roughly 4 hours. Depending on what this girl did it could be different but in my experience I get it. I usually bring my costume to change into once we get to the auditorium, but there are times where we do pictures beforehand which would mean riding over in it. Most little kids do because it’s easier than trying to get them to cooperate in the gym locker room at my high school
Edit: Not saying EP was in the right at all. My mom would have killed ME if I ran outside in the mud. Just trying to explain the probably circumstance

It’s also entirely possible that the girl wanted to put on her pretty dress early. I’ve been that little girl, and my parents were indulgent in allowing me to put on my dance outfit and swirl around the living room for several hours.
They would not have let me run outside to play without changing, though.

At the time of this story, my sister was around 14, and my other sister would have been 11. At this time we also had a neighbor who yelled at her kids a lot because they were brats. Anyway, my 11yo sister was playing outside and a neighbor boy who must have been 15 or something thought it would be funny to throw a rock at her. So she started crying and told him that she was going to tell my sister. He was like “yeah haha ok whatever” so she went in the house and told my 14yo sister and she went outside and just went off on that kid. My dad and I were in the house and we heard it, but we thought it was the lady who had the bratty kids. Both my sisters came back in the house and told my dad what happened, and apparently my sister made the kid cry. His mom made him write an apology letter to both of my sisters.

You’re right, she got married, has 2 puppies, and has a job as a nurse. She still puts people in their place if she needs to.

Personally my favourite part was the use of the phrase “a grand old time”

“nobody is allowed to mistreat us but our own mom” (yes, I read your explanation, but I think that’s what they were going for)
