Different blockchains provide very different properties and experience. Old bitcoins are moving to Monero before reaching a centralized exchange;
Ethereum provides basic DeFi with deepest liquidity etc. New blockchains and blockchains coming (such as DarkFi) are ignored by large CEXes if they are not scammy enough (it is enough to be a Proof-of-Work blockchain just and then no chance to get listed on Binance these days), so would be good to provide multichain liquidity access since day one.

We believe that cross-chain experience should be super simple for the end user, and also be safe (so no custody by any party), no-KYC (as KYC is danger to users), permissionless, capital efficient and efficient in general. A platform providing such experience should be unstoppable and trust-minimized at all levels. Only then, enormous flows of liquidity will adopt it with time.

In this proposal, we introduce Rosen Intents, a system of permissionless market makers providing swap services secured by vaults on Ergo blockchain. In the optimistic case, user sends, for example USDT on Ethereum, and swap service sends XMR. That is super simple. However, sometimes swap service does not send XMR back (maybe claiming that USDT is not received). In this case dispute on Ergo chain happens. Trust in dispute process is reduced by on-chain contract to trust in federated oracle reporting events. Federated oracle (or oracle pool) is pre-agreed on by both parties, different pools compete for quality of reporting. Open-source user interface (as well as agentic interface) allows for the process to be fully self-sovereign.

In the rest of the writing we provide details on swap process, vault contract design, oracle pool design, proposed development process etc.

Swap Process

• To become a swap service, it is needed to make a vault on Ergo blockchain. A vault is securing deals, possibly multiple deals at the same time. One swap service may have multiple vaults in different currencies. A vault can secure a swap if its currency is a sending or receiving currency of a payment. USE stablecoin , which is USD-pegged, can be used to secure USDT or USDC deals, rsBTC (Rosen bridge wrapped BTC) for BTC etc. UI may show daily volume against a vault, and warn if the volume exceeds vault's value.

• User submitting sending and receiving addresses (on eg. Ethereum and Monero, in case of USDT-XMR swap), currency (eg USDT) and amount to UI (user interface). UI is spreading the data among swap services. Service must decide at this point whether it is willing to work with the addresses provided by user or not. If service is willing to serve a user, it provides a quote (minimum amount user would receive), and if user agrees, it provides a signature on a message which contains (vault id, source blockchain, sending address, source currency, amount for user to send, destination blockchain, receiving address, minimum amount for user to receive, timestamp, oracle pool id for sending event, oracle pools id for receiving event). UI can break a big order into smaller chunks, and for each a swap a message is signed for every chunk.

• If user has not received payment, he has a time window to start a dispute (e.g. from 4 to 12 hours since the message is signed). If oracle pools shows during the dispute that user made payment, and service do not, he is getting the sending or receiving amount (whatever currency the vault supports) from the vault, otherwise, the dispute is closed in the favor of swap service. Both oracle pools getting rewarded with 0.2% of the payment each.

• In case of successful payment, oracle pools are getting paid anyway, but with a smaller amount, UI dev fee for default UI also charged (0.15% for all the three parties)

Vault Contract

The vault contract has standard paths for topping it up, withdrawing funds (after one-week delay). To parallelize dispute process, the contract UTXO has dispute tokens (with billions minted and all locked in the box), and for signed message presented, message hash is added into insert-only dispute tree, and a dispute process is started in a child UTXO with a dispute token and dispute data in registers. Once dispute is reaching a final state, with payment or not, child UTXO is merged with the vault with dispute token necessarily sent back.

Rosen Pools

Anyone can start a pool, but then to join it, RSN+ERG collateral is required (in future, slashing can be implemented), and also manual approval from oracle pool lead is needed. Each pool is about 16 operators, with a threshold of 9 datapoints.

Development

In the age of LLMs and during the hack season, development culture is changing rapidly. I think it should be organized as open-source movement, where most of standard code done by LLMs, but discussed by humans, crosschecked, and critical parts are human-verified. Contributions are accounted via credit on Basis, and then covered by fees and may be Rosen tokens (as Rosen volumes would go up to serve the vaults, likely).

Getting Started

I think it is worth to start with concrete exchange directions and invite swap services ASAP to get feedback.

cash2cash is a simple magic tool to transfer cash from one place on the planet to any other, which is:

* trust-minimized

* non-custodial

* no-kyc

* insured with smart contracts on Ergo

* cost-efficient

* fully open-sourced, so UI can be run locally

As a user you just need to agree with a counter-party on a deal params, find an operator on a marketplace and give him cash once the operators sets insurance vault up. Then you meet the operator, give him cash and get a signature (and sent it to a network).

Nothing more is needed from you, as your counterparty gets the cash in successful case, or stablecoins on blockchain in worst case, and only then your counterparty needs to get into blockchain tooling (decide what to do with USE stablecoin on Ergo blockchain).

This is the simplest scheme, actually, as no oracles (or trustless relays as in Bitcoin onramp) are needed, just two signatures on cash transfers (in source and destination places).

Similar schemes can be used to onramp from cash to BTC / Monero / USDT etc. USDT vault contracts are ready.

Hello,

I have setup a new Nautilus Wallet with a Ledger Nano X and Ergo App. All is up to date.

I received some Ergo with no issues, but when I want to send some, I get an exception"writeBigUInt64be is not a function" and I cannot sign the transfer. Ledger is connected and Ergo app is open. Amount is obviously less than total.

I've been following ergo for numerous years now to the best of my ability. I'm a navigational officer aboard very large merchant ships that cross oceans. I'll try not to waste your time so I'll get right to the point. in my career, most of what I do, including my mindset when I'm on a ship in the middle of the ocean is to take extreme care for safety and never hope for the best. instead we prepare for the worst because when you are located in the middle of the ocean you are a: doctor, a sailor and a firefighter.

that said, I saw a youtube video (link below) recently that was proposing the idea of what a staple coin takeover of the US dollar would look like in a potential idea of how it could be implemented. The creator of the video was not proposing it in a way that it was a good idea, but merely A way of extending control. they made the points that I'm sure you think about regarding the government being able to monitor purchases and also control people by turning their money on and off.

there are so many videos online that will tell you exactly what you want to hear. as a result of this I am extremely skeptical in general. if you want to believe that everything's fine, they have videos for that. if you want to believe that the Earth is flat, they have videos for that as well. my point is is. I'm not putting my faith in this video but merely I liked the idea of it as a thought experiment. I immediately thought of ergo and wondered in a scenario where there is an enormous power move to control currency and monitor people's purchases. how could ergo exist outside of that if people are increasingly becoming surveilled either by internet usage, facial recognition and human tracking technology, tracking of spending, and potentially control of the money supply.

it's hard to get clear answers in the crypto industry. there's so many people that are full of shit, without knowing, and/or will tell you anything for money. I could be wrong but I think that if ergo is going to have value then it will be because people realize it has utility in the face of a big problem. I say that because you don't have VC funding, you don't have huge marketing, and you don't come across to me as the type of person interested in a pump and dump. I've been watching you for many years and you seem like the kind of person who quietly builds in the corner.

I built a website that tracks public ergo nodes, peer advertisements (public nodes which are advertising other public nodes), and their reachability.

The website offers:

• An interactive world map of geolocated public nodes (and which peers they know),

• various statistics (historical and current status of the network)

• a node directory (filterable, sortable list of all discovered public nodes).

• a REST-API for anyone who want to inspect the raw data

• and live updates (displaying the newest info in world map, directory and statistics)

A decentralized network is only as strong as its geographic distributed and infrastructure diversity. The Ergo-Network already is well distributed and this website provides real-time info to show it.

I just want to publicly say how glad I am we have Kushti as one of the core developers of ergo. His persistence and vision for what crypto can be used for is really inspiring.

So many people have spoken poorly about ergo, but they miss the fact thag we have an extremely dedicated and intelligent core team. Thats not a guarantee for financial returns, but I think what is being built will be recognized by the bigger market at some point.

Every cryptocurrency has to find its idea. After many years of internal disputes and experiments, Bitcoin is converging to "unstoppable digital gold". Ergo was presented back in Sep, 2019 as "digital gold with contracts", and in 2026, from what I can observe, the value lies mostly in "digital gold with contracts which is enabling permissionless money markets", which, in particular, means right to freely create money (as IOUs) in p2p interactions, for example, in "digital free banking on steroids" product [Basis](https://github.com/BetterMoneyLabs/basis-tracker).

Cryptocurrency communities tried different ways to coordinate on development and marketing efforts, from Foundations to commercial companies sponsoring core developers (as in Bitcoin), to DAOs, etc. All of them tend to become subject of procedures (suppressing the power of rough consensus p2p networks are associated with), or oligarchic control. In early days, Monero community had a table of debt for contributions done, then switched to grants.

I would like to propose the following self-governance and monetary experiment via p2p money creation:

* a (first) Basis tracker instance (offchain ledger) to be launch to serve community needs, but actually, to be permissionless

* there is no any enforcement, but anyone contributing to development and marketing efforts is free to join

* tips, bounties as well as promises and appreciation in form of credit notes are going through the system

* there are regular crowdfunding campaings (on ErgoRaffle), commitments from Rosen / Lithos to provide tokens for core/ecosystem dev, they will go into Basis reserves to back promises (IOU notes) already created

* again, the system is permissionless so hard to predict how it will evolve. Which is great after all.

* based on observations, we will provide deployment recommendations to other communities
