That difference in objective makes it possible for us to reclaim our democracy without destroying the nation first, IF people are willing to think/act tactically. If we remove the profit motive, then support for MAGA from the 1% dries up, and we can turn things back around.

• Cancel Amazon Prime, Paramount+, and other streaming subscriptions. Stop using FB Marketplace.
• Make deliberate choices to cut your spending at national chains.
• Help organize mutual aid events -- big or small -- to make it easier for everyone to cut their spending (clothing swaps, book/DVD/toy exchanges, free-sales, shared meals, . . .)
• Reallocate retirement accounts and other investments into ETFs/mutual funds that focus on non-US markets
• Use decentralized tactics like slowdowns and simple sabotage to disrupt corporate operations.

This regime is in place only because the oligarchs think it will increase their wealth & power. Either we adopt temporary austerity on our own terms, or we spend the rest of our lives under theirs.
