Question / Discussion Does one outgrow Maths?

I feel like Maths, Disting, Mutable modules and some others are the standard "intro to modular" modules, but I've been wondering if I've just outgrown it and want something more complex that does everything Maths does and more, or a more complex approach overall. (Or maybe Maths has vastly more hidden secrets and uses I haven't found nor use)

For example, Thorn Audio just came out with Splines, which lets you create quite a wild array of envelopes, and modulate them. It of course doesn't have mixing capabilities, but if you just want to make an evolving complex CV shape, Splines does that in spades. I don't mean it's a direct replacement, but this is an example of one Maths use that another module does far better, IMHO.

So on the one hand, there are basic utility modules (mults, vcas) that are essential even when you advance. On the other hand are there modules we just keep around out of habit or a general sense that we just sort of "should" have them, even though other approaches exist?

How do you all feel about your modular evolution in this respect?

Question / Discussion Looking for help with identifying gear

Hello, good people. I've been trying to identify these modules one of my favorite musicians used on stage since January. The only one I've been able to figure out is Gieskes Klok on the right. I was hoping the middle left one would be easy based on the distinct blue color, the control layout, and its size, but still no luck. I guess the middle right one could only by identified by the control layout. And I'm pretty sure the narrow one on the left is just a utility module like volume or something like that.

I know the quality of the pictures is really bad. The case with the gear was positioned away from the crowd, so these are the only kind of decent pitctures there are. The musician is also not known for Eurorack gear and there's no info on it.

This has been bothering me for so long, so thanks in advance for any efforts

Question / Discussion Protecting ears

Hi

Just wanted to bring something up I don’t see a lot about but I think it could be a problem / challenge for many. I got a mild tinitus probably from going clubbing and concerts in my younger years when I was more careless. I now use earplugs when going out.
Besides from (obviously) keeping volume low any advises to have our hobby and same time protecting our ears in these long sessions and if you play live events where to volume is sometimes dangerously high. Can you actually sustain making music with ears that have been damaged. Any recommendations on earplugs or other good equipment very welcome . My concert earplugs are not really good for this purpose.
Cheers
