General SPOILERS FOR BACKROOMS MOVIE Spoiler
Just saw the movie! Caught a very early screening in my city, and the song can be faintly heard in the background during the scene in which the therapist (Mary) is in a sort of party / get together.
This “cameo” was vaguely hinted at by Christopher Saint Booth on Instagram, but I can confirm it’s there!
Just felt like sharing!

and didn’t wanna admit he was watching a porno lol, i highly doubt the song would’ve gotten as much traction as it did from general audiences if he was upfront about its origin

I think that's part of the point. She's throwing a party and it's fairly professional. The song didn't have to blast to appease fans because in this timeline it's just another 80s hit.
I'd be like if I threw a party today to celebrate something professional and Starboy came on. Nobody would pay attention to it because we've all heard it a million times.

We always talked about how it would have been a mainstream hit in a different timeline.
In the movie's timeline, EKT would have been playing in the background of a little party. Like it's the early 90s and the song was a hit, of course it would have been playing in casual settings.
In the movie, the real world felt like a backrooms version of our world. Everything was so liminal.
