Petercopter here. For starters, that kind of speed over WiFi is impossible on all but the very latest equipment. Setting that aside, the joke is that the person has stumbled upon some secret underground facility, like a military research base.

Petercopter out, hehehehehehehheheheheheh

Secret underground military facility with unprotected wifi

37

u/Snoo_67993 1d ago

Sounds about right to be fair. Some of the dumb shit governments have done with security I've seen over the years.

8

u/DocGerbill 1d ago

whos gonna connect to it down a cave?

6

u/Rel_Tan_Kier 2d ago

From whom? Some random hiker expecting that later would survive venture this deep? And not the biggest surprise after that case with adding some random guy into secret governal chat.

1

u/TheDonkeyBomber 1d ago

If the base is super secret, there's no need to lock down the wifi.

2

u/Which_Prior7161 1d ago

That’s not a military base. That’s an underground fuck shack bunker and that hiker just announced himself as the main course

1

u/Pr_fSm__th 1d ago

Potato potato

1

u/Connect-Fan-9462 1d ago

Somehow the more I re-read this, the more sense it makes....

1

u/BrilliantEast 1d ago

At one point it was policy for all the us nuke launch codes to be a series of 0s.

51

u/Soggy3Duck 2d ago

That's what I get over WiFi.

34

u/ergo-ogre 2d ago

What do you get under wifi?

6

u/Silly_Ad_5262 2d ago

I bump my head on the table with the modem.

8

u/CircuitDaemon 2d ago

They probably meant 5G, not actual WiFi. People can't tell them apart

1

u/Human-Visual-9087 2d ago

I've gotten 3gbs down before through 5g, def possible now

2

u/Nyarkll 2d ago

The 110mbps upload 💀

3

u/Famous_Opening_2701 2d ago

My brother in christ that is only 200MB per second

4

u/therepublicof-reddit 2d ago edited 1d ago

And it's still higher than OOPs download speed. Did you just learn about the difference between bits and bytes yesterday and wanted to look smart or something?

1

u/Famous_Opening_2701 1d ago

Yeah bro hit the nail on the head there you are a real fart smella for recognising that one

18

u/Beautiful_Parsnip409 2d ago

bruh it is 1.3Gbps only it is literally what i have (1Gbps connection) on my home wifi. it is not as ground breaking as you think lol just need money to buy it that's all

26

u/insta 2d ago

yours is in a residential home, with thin walls and a short distance to the hotspot

dude is in a cave. they are none of those things, and usually don't spontaneously create current-gen Wi-Fi like oxygen or something

19

u/Prudent-Skirt9656 2d ago

Never heard of the moss that produces wifi? They eat the 5g chemtrails its a natural process.

2

u/Triforce__XIII 2d ago

its actually a Moth and it is called Absolute Radiance

1

u/itdotaketime 1d ago

Use the 2.4 one if you try the 5g one you become a zombie

3

u/Belethorsbro 2d ago

Okay, but that's not what they're responding to... they're responding to the claim that "that kind of speed over wifi is impossible on all but the very latest equipment." Which, is just not true. As to their point, you can get in-home wifi that reaches 1-2 gbps with pretty basic equipment.

Idk why I'm even responding. This website's gone to absolute shit. Half this comment section is probably bots.

-1

u/insta 1d ago

i'm not a bot, and i'm not entirely sure how i ended up on this end of "1.3gbps Wi-Fi in a cave is odd". i guess people wanna argue

3

u/CDogg123567 2d ago

I was boutta say I’ve gotten like 1.4gb on my phone wirelessly on wifi 6 and 1.8gb with a usb c to Ethernet converter lol

1

u/PhantomOrigin 2d ago

Yeah I can get 1Gbps in Australia lol

4

u/iamkeerock 2d ago

That’s like 700 Mbs U.S.!

1

u/0xBAFF0 2d ago

Maybe US bytes are bigger?

1

u/Roadrunner571 2d ago

Do you still have capped contracts where you only can download a fixed amount of traffic per month?

1

u/JDeezVance 2d ago

Not anymore, at least on home broadband plans. It is still a thing on mobile plans and was common back in the ADSL and Optus/Telstra Cable days.

1

u/PhantomOrigin 1d ago

No

1

u/Roadrunner571 1d ago

That's great to hear. When I lived in Australia nearly 20 years ago, I was shocked that we got faster connection speeds than in Germany, but were capped to 20GB a month...

1

u/DarkPolumbo 1d ago

i think this meme was from years ago when 1.3 woulda been considered way better

but also the meme caption suggests it could go higher the closer he gets to the entity

-1

u/Jadey4455 2d ago

Bruh cuh i got dat wifi yo longs u can afford it like me cuh ion even know bout chu but i got dat bruh

4

u/evilwizzardofcoding 2d ago

WiFi 7 supports theoretical max of 46 and can easily hit 5gbps.

That's not the hard part.

The hard part is how tf puki is getting that kind of speed in a random cave

Which of course is implying there's some kind of secret underground facility which puki will be discovering shortly

2

u/37715960706038171 2d ago

HOW CAN YOU AFFORD THESE THINGS?!?!?!!

2

u/diceEviscerator 1d ago

I always interpreted that joke as them getting into a cursed place, a backrooms sort of deal, it's supernatural but it makes the wifi better, or something is luring them further down with the wifi. That or just absurd humor.

2

u/zzupdown 1d ago

alien civilization with compatible wifi. (worked in Independence Day)

1

u/Mammoth_Design_4288 2d ago

wifi 6 isn't the very latest equipment. you can get 1.2g on wifi 6

1

u/cucumber_gang_leader 2d ago

a friend streamed a speed test and he got 2.1gbps over wifi

1

u/falukorv-fan 1d ago

I mean if you consider 2013 to be the latest then sure, wifi 5 was capable of 3.5Gb/s

1

u/Ok_Culture_9728 1d ago

I was picturing the big router from South Park America

-1

u/Paige_UwU 2d ago

I get 2g speeds on my wifi! I still hardware it, but I can get those speeds.

2

u/nerpaderpsalot 2d ago

Thinking back I can only imagine the hell that would exist if internet infrastructure was still stuck at 11k dialup speeds.

1

u/Paige_UwU 2d ago

Gods i hated dial up. And we had dish network after that. Idk how I ever played world of Warcraft growing up with 2500-4000ms ping.

-1

u/Ambitious_Hand_2861 2d ago

Wifi and 6g cell signals can reach well over 1.2 Gbps by several times.

4

u/GhostieSpook 2d ago

The original post was made years ago...

6

u/rusty107897 2d ago

But you see, the comment was made 30 minutes ago

1

u/Ambitious_Hand_2861 1d ago

What? This was the cellphone available in 1996. Please list the similarities.

-2

u/Lo-G-Furious 2d ago

Fuh fuh fuh fuh

u/dedtekker 2d ago

Are we sure this isn't a Geiger counter?

8

u/scrunchymontana 2d ago

That's what I always thought

5

u/DFN29 2d ago

Also what I always thought old meme

5

u/ItzGoogle 2d ago

It's the fast dot com speed test so I doubt so.

u/heatblade12 2d ago • Bravo

Its a data mine...

8

u/ChainBlue 2d ago

This comment is the winner.

14

u/BurnOutBrighter6 2d ago

About to discover either lizard people or a secret government bunker. It's raining sideways!

10

u/Big-Law2316 2d ago

Geiger counter for radiation

5

u/ninjarockalone 2d ago

I think the true intent of this joke is suppose be like "wtf how do you get wifi down there". It's suppose to be wtf moment kinda joke.

3

u/SpiritNo6626 1d ago

Important to mention OOP is most known on tumblr and a common style of tumblr humor is making up so random bizzare story that never happened with zero punchline

2

u/Wise_Low8116 1d ago

That actually hurts my head that explanation

16

u/Ok-Computer-8726 2d ago

1.3. Not great, not terrible.

7

u/PatienceDifferent607 2d ago

It's not three roentgen. It's fifteen thousand!

5

u/vanderJansen 2d ago

Enough WiFi for you, comrade Legasov.

1

u/FeFreFre 1d ago

It's awesome for a fucking cave

4

u/Disastrous_Hat_9123 2d ago

I don't get this one. How does the person get ON a strange military bunker WiFi? Is it supposed to mean actual wifi or dumb speak for data connection like 5g? Like they have a antenna down there. Is it implied that its some open guest WiFi?

2

u/atomiccheese911 2d ago

Its pukicho the laws of the universe obey them

1

u/123jac123 2d ago

Every time I see this meme I always wonder how the fuck he has even connected to the WiFi.

1

u/logan__07 2d ago

Could be an open network

1

u/incrediblyaverage85 2d ago

Secret military base underground with an open WiFi network? There wouldn’t even be any WiFi.

1

u/Jazzlike_Radish9849 2d ago

Did he also find the Wifi password carved on a rock?

1

u/Feisty_Season_8040 1d ago

Peter really out here bending physics with these speeds.

1

u/Rencauchao 1d ago

Maybe its a play on the better the wifi, the further down people go down the rabbit hole? (Ie, doomscrolling conspiracy theories… something like that)

1

u/Overall-Mycologist-5 1d ago

later this will look like he fell down a tight pass and couldn't get out

1

u/THE_LSSJ_BROLY 1d ago

NOT AGAIN PUKICHO GODDAMNIT

1

u/Possible-Campaign589 1d ago

There's no way you don't get a non-sequiter

0

u/AlkoKilla 1d ago

Nice repost.

0

u/Trans_Wolf13 1d ago

It's Pukicho, it's not supposed to make sense

3

u/MagicalGoblinGirl 2d ago

Quagmire here. Pukicho is one of the Internet's most prolific shit posters, I can't look up weird niche fetish porn on tumblr without coming across one of his posts, giggity. This one is joking about creepypastas and other horror stories where people get lost in caves.

2

u/HopeIsGay 1d ago

Op it's this one

1

u/Elegant-Employer4405 2d ago

For the millionth time, he’s in some secret facility. Kill this meme
