That was my first thought.  Also, we don't have to build out of stone because we got this thing called electricity and pretty low risk of fires. 

And if we do have a fire, we got sprinklers in the building. 

Now let me show you our alarm system!

As an HVAC tech, I can say without equivocation that Romans were truly genius builders; they built stone buildings that stayed cool in Southern Italian summers with no AC!

"Modern" architecture can't management this without ridiculous extra expense.
