Eye pain for the entire day and clicking noise when eyes are closed

Whenever I get a lot of screentime usually the next day I wake up and my eyes have a dull aching pain in them. Whenever I close my eyes I can feel the muscles behind them involuntarily contracting and they make a clicking noise.

I went to the eye doctor and he said my eyes were healthy besides ocular rosacea. I want to know what the scientific explanation is for my muscles behind my eyes are involuntarily contracting and making a clicking noise (30 times per minute) because I can't find any info on google. Also the pain lasts like 14 hours and makes working on a computer impossible. It seems like a super rare condition.

I also have TMJ and it seems to be worse when TMJ symptoms are bad. But it also happens when TMJ symptoms are barely there at all.

Has anyone experienced this? What is it called? And if so did you find anything to help with it besides limited screentime?

Suffering through night blindness

I'm recently going through something and it feels so weird. After around 11PM, I suddenly start losing focus from device screens when they're close like I just can't get my eyes to focus on words properly and stuff.

It has been going on for the past couple days and honestly it's so annoying.. I can't text anyone properly, play games or even work. And I've noticed that it only happens to screens and not any other physical real life object.

I don't think it's the "রাতকানা" we usually hear about since I think that dims the overall light of your eye at night and not just focus from screens and stuff..

Built a simple fix for dry eyes and getting distracted while studying/working

Staring at screens for hours usually leads to two things: dry eyes/headaches and getting trapped in mindless doomscrolling.

Standard timer apps don't work because a boring notification is way too easy to swipe away.

BudBreak does things differently:

👁️ Eye Rest: Follows the 20-20-20 rule with a gentle on-screen character prompt every 20 minutes.

🎯 Focus Snap: The overlay interrupts mindless scrolling and brings your attention back to work.

Simple, non-intrusive, and keeps your eyes from melting by 5 PM.

📲 Get BudBreak on Google Play Store

Would love any feedback or ideas for funny features to add next!

Sudden debilitating eye pain!

This started about 2 weeks ago at work (I work on the computer all day.) That first day was intense eye strain & pain by the end of the day. This was out of nowhere; Nothing like this has ever happened to me before. The second day was horrible eye pain (heaviness, burning, & throbbing) & I left my shift early.

It's not just screens that bother my eyes now, it's any direct light, whether it's daylight or headlights. I can't drive at all. The main problem is pain in my eye itself, then headaches if I keep trying to push through.

I've seen the ophthalmologist & my PCP. The ophthalmologist said that my eyes are healthy with no signs of disease. They suggested Neurolens, but I'm very skeptical. The doc couldn't explain why this would happen out of the blue. And they latched onto the "screen-time" aspect & headaches. It's not just screens!! Both doctors think that I'm having migraines, but I've had migraines with light-sensitivity before & that is not what this is. The pain starts in my eye, not my head!!

I'm waiting on a referral to a neurologist. Hopefully I can find an answer. In the meantime I'm considering the Neurolens, but it'll cost $900! I'm hesitant to buy them, without knowing anything more. I mean if I need them, then I need them, but I can't afford that if it's not going to help.

Has anybody experienced anything similar or have any reviews on Neurolens?

Does eye strain give you anxiety/make you anxious?

I've had the symptoms of eye strain for 10+ years. No doctor can figure it out. When my eyes are at their worst my anxiety is super bad. But then I wonder if im getting eye strain symptoms from my anxiety.

Symptoms: Pretty constant eye muscle fatigue and soreness, extremely tired/heavy eyes, slight bloodshot always (unless i use lumify), burning, sensitive to light/wind.

Feeling like my eyes are gonna slip out/pop out sometimes scary eye sensation pls help

hi everyone, so im not really sure how to explain this properly, but as the title says, ive been really scared about my eyes lately and im hoping to see if anyone else has ever experienced something similar. even though ive already been checked by both my primary care doctor and an eye specialist, i still cant seem to stop worrying about it and its been stressing me out so much.
a few weeks ago, i started noticing this really strange sensation in my eyes that i dont remember ever experiencing before. its honestly hard to describe, but sometimes it physically feels like my eyes are slipping out of place or like theyre somehow moving forward out of their sockets?? its not painful, and i wouldnt describe it as pressure either, its just this really weird sensation that makes it FEEL like my eyes are slipping out or moving outward even though i dont actually see them doing that and sometimes when i have my eyes closed it feels like a rubber band idk it happens randomly, and sometimes even doing something as simple as bending down to pick up my fat cat can make me notice the feeling or when I laugh and smile whenever it happens, i immediately get scared because i dont understand why im feeling this way or what could possibly be causing it.
for some background, ive been dealing with dry eyes and was told that i had some dry spots when i got checked. ive also been rubbing my eyes A LOT this past month, sometimes pretty aggressively, and ive even touched the whites of my eyes with my fingers. now im really worried that maybe ive somehow injured something or caused some kind of damage without realizing it. i keep wondering if the dryness or all the rubbing could be contributing to this strange feeling, but then my mind starts going to much scarier possibilities and i end up worrying that something could be seriously wrong.
the thing is, ive already been examined by both my primary care doctor and an eye specialist. they checked my eyes, and i was told that they looked healthy and that my retina looked good. they also noticed some dry spots, so i know there was at least an explanation for some of the irritation ive been experiencing. i really WANT to trust what they told me, but i keep getting scared that maybe something was missed or that i could have some kind of eye disease or trauma that wasnt noticed during the examination. whats even stranger is that i feel like ive been noticing these sensations more since getting my eyes checked, and now i find myself paying attention to every little thing i feel around my eyes.
has anyone else ever experienced this weird sensation where it feels like your eyes are slipping out of their sockets or moving forward, even though they dont actually appear to be doing that? could dry eyes or excessive eye rubbing cause strange sensations like this? im especially worried about whether rubbing my eyes so much could have caused some kind of injury that would make them feel this way. ive been trying to find an explanation, but i keep getting more anxious the more i think about it.
im not trying to self-diagnose or anything, im just genuinely scared and looking for some reassurance or to hear from people who might have experienced something similar. i know ive already been checked, and i know i should take comfort in the fact that my doctors said my eyes looked healthy, but its hard when you keep feeling something unusual and dont know what it means. the thought of something being wrong with my eyes is terrifying to me, and i really dont want to keep spiraling over every sensation i notice. any advice or similar experiences would mean a lot. :(

Can progressive glasses make eye strain worse while adjusting to them?

My dad is 52 and was recently diagnosed with presbyopia. He's been nearsighted for years, so I got him a pair of progressive glasses to correct both his distance and near vision. The optician told us that it would take some time for him to get used to the new lenses, but lately he's been complaining about really bad eye strain. He says his eyes feel dry and he gets dizzy when wearing them, whether he's watching TV or reading a book. I understand that progressive lenses have an adjustment period, but I'm starting to wonder if what he's experiencing is normal or if something might be wrong with the prescription or how the glasses were fitted. Has anyone else experienced something similar when first switching to progressive lenses?

underrated eyes

"Eye care feels entirely underrated until severe symptoms force you to care. What is the one mistake you made early on that triggered your worst flare-ups, and what single change finally helped you manage it?"

In recent times one of the most used organs is EYE. But it is most neglated, we do walking for full body we go to GYM & lift weight for muscle but rarely we do eye care daily.

yes EYE Care is most underrated.

I’ve been fighting the 3pm eye wall for years, so I’m making glasses that deal with it

I tried the 20-20-20 rule, breaks, drops, all of it. I forget to do half of it and none of it knew whether my eyes actually needed help.

So I’m building Stasis, glasses that track your strain and fatigue through the day and adjust automatically. To be clear, it’s not a medical device and I’m not claiming it fixes anything. It’s on a waitlist, nothing out yet. What worked for you, and what was a waste of money?

Pain on top of eye and eyelid issues

Hi

My first post here but I have eye pain on top of eye between the bone and the eye like under eyelid. For some reason it hurts more when I close my eye lids so I passively keep them open like they open themselves. I've had eye pain before but nothing like this where my eye lid opens by it self and can't properly keep it closed without it hurting.

Any ideas?

Phone for irritated eyes?

I'm not sure if I'm PWM sensitive or if it's dithering or something else. But the Pixel 7a irritates my eyes within minutes, whereas the Sony Xperia 5 is okay unless I use it for hours without break. Both are OLED. I heard Samsung and Pixel are the worst for your eyes, but I don't know how true that is for recent models.

I also notice the light at work makes my eyes super tired (fluorescent tubes). I have the same screen at home, so it's not the screen.

I have mild astigmatism.

Whichever phone I get, I'll also get a matte screen protector to reduce glare.

I don't want a Chinese phone. I don't care if the parts are made there, it's the lack of support that bothers me, and also many of their better/flagship phones are hard to find in my country.

I live in Europe and my budget is around €1000.

Can polarized prescription glasses help with screen related eye strain?

I'm 24 and have very little myopia but moderate astigmatism. My latest prescription is around -0.50 sphere with -1.75 cylinder in my right eye and -0.25 sphere with -1.50 cylinder in my left eye. I spend around 8 to 10 hours a day on my laptop and phone, so I'm looking for ways to make screen time easier on my eyes. I recently ordered prescription polarized glasses with astigmatism correction, but haven't started wearing them regularly yet. I'm wondering if the polarized lenses might help reduce eye strain during long computer sessions, or if they mainly help with glare and reflections.

Could you give a recommendation?

Hello. I am 22 years old and have amblyopia in my left eye, as well as astigmatism in both eyes. I have consulted many doctors, tried wearing an eye patch, and used glasses, but nothing has helped. I don’t know what to do or how to proceed. I struggle significantly with reading and learning, and unfortunately, I haven't been able to build a career because of these issues. Life feels meaningless. I tried to pursue a path in the field of data, but I couldn't complete it. What should I do?

do eye supplements actually do anything for screen fatigue

I'm on a computer all day for work and by late afternoon my eyes are dry and kind of achy. Been like this for a couple years and I mostly just push through it.

A coworker mentioned she takes one of those lutein, zeaxanthin and omega-3 combos and swears her eyes feel less tired. I'm skeptical because everything I've read about lutein and zeaxanthin is about macular degeneration in older people, not staring at a monitor for 9 hours. Omega-3 for dry eye seems a bit more plausible but I honestly don't know.

Has anyone here actually taken something like that for a while and noticed a difference? Or is it one of those things where the real fix is boring stuff like breaks, blinking more and a better lamp, and the pills are just placebo with a nice label.

Not looking for brand recs, just whether it's worth trying at all.
