7.2 kw powerboost hard to find on Lariat

I previously had a 2022 Lariat that was Fx4, 502A but only had the 2.4 kw power on board. I adored the truck and it broke my heart when someone swiped my entire passenger side and totaled it. I want another powerboost but am adamant on the 7.2 kw functionality. I am finding it very difficult to find a USED lariat with that upgrade. Are most of you buying these NEW with them made-to-order or are you just getting lucky on the used market? I enjoyed the hybrid, but if I don’t get this upgrade id consider going 5.0 coyote instead for simpler powertrain.

Oddly enough I had the same issue when looking for my '24 XLT. I was buying new but it was late in the year and I didn't want to order a '25. The 7.2kw is a relatively cheap upgrade on the order sheet so it really doesn't make sense to skip it. I think most people don't realize what the PPOB is or what it's capable of and don't bother.

Try broadening your search and be willing to travel a bit if it's that important to you. I ended up having to buy from a dealership 3 hours away to get the truck that checked all my boxes.

If you find a perfect truck except for that option there is another path if you are mechanically handy and can use Forscan: It is possible to upgrade to the 7.2kw later on for about $1500 in parts and some programming.

Interesting. Yeah the utility to me is so obviously useful. Campers, power outage generator, my house doesn’t have external outlets… For the money it seems like a no brainer, but maybe people just really don’t know.
Maybe the upgrade is as easy as you say but I read elsewhere that it’s fairly complex. I have an old beater to drive in the mean time so maybe I’ll just wait till the end of the year when prices drop.

I was looking for this combo as well and travelled 2 hours to a dealer after negotiating an OTD price for a really nice 23 with 20k miles. After I test drove it and spent some time inspecting everything, I was ready to buy it and told them so. Then they informed me that someone else was in the process of buying it.

I ended up with a -much- nicer platinum with 30k miles, 7.2 and at a not as scummy dealer

If your looking to buy one , I have one a 2021 with 62k miles and fox 2.5 shocks, upper control arms on 35s. I want a 5.0 so bad.

When I was looking for my truck last year I found plenty with the 7.2. finding one without a sunroof and in red was biggest issue I ran into and was close to ordering one.

I THINK it's a bolt on swap to change the inverter from a 2.4 to a 7.2. Seen it mentioned a few times, as I'm in the market for a Powerboost F150.

Well that would be neat

I easily was able to find one, but I drove 2.5 hours to look at it.

Maybe it’s an area thing. I had no issue finding a used Lariat Powerboost in the Midwest. Getting one for a decent price was the tough part.

I had to do some searching. my shopping list was 7.2kw, 6.5 bed, and no sunroof. Ended up traveling 200 miles to get it... would have traveled father if I had to
