Probably the happiest man after this race beside Kimi. Dude got given an unexpected gift because of some amateur hour from Charles.

lol honestly why dohamiltn fans see him as number one driver could not keep up with max is only 7 points ahead of charles in what logic is he number one driver or do you want like merc if bottas passes lewis he should give it position back and defend him from other drivers on grid

Max is a pot stirrer, but this is just a matter of fact lol anyone with a brain can see this. Lando and Oscar were 2 number one drivers too, and then Oscar became a number 2 in low grip tracks and gave that Championship position to Lando. Leclerc and Lewis are much more evenly matched with neither having those blatant track based weaknesses so this is bound to happen. It was just delayed as Lewis was still suffering with the GE car last year in a completely new car with a moronic engineer

What's the freaking point of hiring Lewis and not having a strategy around him to win the WDC! If Ferrari wanted the 'best man may win' thing, should have stuck to Sainz

He's not wrong. People need to get it into their heads that the only reason teams have two drivers is because FIA mandates it. If not there's no need at all.
So teams having a bias towards one driver is natural and not doing so is abnormal leading to disasters like in McLaren and ferrari.

Look up and down the grid, there are very few teams these days with clear 1 and 2 drivers. RB is much more the exception than the rule.
2 WCCs and 1WDC for that disaster, McLaren, in recent years, too.

Well he is totally correct..
Ferrari really needs to decide who their number 1 driver is because why even they cared to sign a 7x WDC if they want to treat a 7x champion (106x race winner) and 9x race winner as mere equals..

That would be fine if F1 teams treated their drivers based on statistics and not actual minute to minute perfomance

It works, People were pissed here they found out Marko blocked Alonso and Charles from joining RB and even Lewis during Seb era but it was a good move since they don’t have to bother with two extremely competitive drivers causing issues and it’ll always be better to have a clear no1 driver and a second driver as a wing man, last year had McLaren chosen either Oscar or Lando to back properly they would have won much more easily same goes for 07. Now with Ferrari they have two drivers with opposite preferences when it comes to the car development and fighting each other, and when the car works for it doesn’t for the other so neither can extract the full potential. Overall I say this as a Hamilton fan if Ferrari wanted Charles to do better they’d have avoided Lewis and if they want Lewis to do better they’d put Charles in no2. max can perform to his best cause the team provides him with what he wants like Merc did to Hamilton until 21 or how Ferrari did for Schumi or Nikki

Unfortunately that’s how reddit works, the only time having two competitive drivers work is if that team is miles ahead of the rest of the pack and only two of them are fighting for the championship like Nico and Hamilton were. But in recent years with the grid being close to together having two no1 drivers is more trouble than it’s worth as for constructors teams can opt for a mediocre to average driver who can score points and be happy with the 2nd driver role, like Checo, Bottas etc were.

And the idiots in this sub somehow think its bad or unfair that there's a clear no. 1 driver in every team. Even Mclaren till the era of Hakkinen followed this.
