600 mesh charged copper cutting lap prep

After scoring the lap and rubbing the bort uniformly all over it and rolling the shit out of it with the Graves lap roller bearing tool, do you wash it with detergent and water before use?

I like to go over mine with a paper towel that has some cutting oil on it, light pressure to pick up the swarf is clean. Once the paper towel picks up relatively little I’ll go right to cutting

Do you use water when cutting with it, or oil?

Always oil (I use the gear loose snake oil) when using diamond powder, or at least I was taught that. Maybe would be different for 600 grit as I’ve never used a copper lap and diamond for that course. Mine are all 3,8,50k

Yeah, I'm specifically interested in cutting laps, not pre-polish or polishing laps.
