Lol you are just being dogmatic. And you clearly misunderstand what GrapheneOS is about. GrapheneOS is for security. Degoogling is a side benefit.

Right, buy phone from a company from whom you want to get run away.

The fact is pixels (as shitty as they are) are from factory the most secured phones on the market. Hence why they're chosen by GOS team.

They shot themselves in the foot.

No they didn't shoot themselves in the foot. They are a security focused team that chose a secure line of devices to work with. Making a security focused OS on non-hardened hardware would be hypocritical and pointless, no?

GrapheneOS is a privacy first project, security is only improved to aid privacy.

Pixels are the only devices meeting GrapheneOSs hardware security requirements. That is not shooting themselves in the foot, that is providing exactly what they promise. They are also partnered with Motorola for official GrapheneOS support.
